I wish all manufacturers did this. It would save a boatload of time when making drive sets.

Drove home from Olhausen Open in grand Rapids MICH sunday nite with two Turks, Mehmet Goren who has been Turkish National Champion { he wants to come to America "I LUV AMERICA !! he says, and teach cue technique. Stay tuned. Also in bus was Mercedes Gonzales, US Women's Carom Champion and Erdem Kilocuoso or something like that, the GREAT ONE ARMED TURKISH POOL PLAYER [he can play caroms too !!!]. Unfortuneatly, besides having only half of one arm, he also lost his PASSPORT, in a truck stop in Ionia MICH. They are now fetching it now so I have some time to catch up on the net. :yeah:

Oh bye the way, just to get back on this thread........I now have committiments from 21 cue builders for USBA billiard cues, and we have just started to twist arms. ICA been twisted....beautiful people. ACA just twisted.......no nibble yet but have high hopes from my friends there.
The Turkish fellow, Mehmet came over here to study cue building under the master. He is getting an eye opener. He has even promised his first cue to the USBA. I told him I would rather have #100, then he might know what he was doing. Needless to say he was insulted. What # cue you want MR MOLE??????? I can get you guuuud deal..... :thumbup2:

This is the only quote I have read from Mr. Wadsworth that I find faulty. My reply is to publish two pictures of a Dieckman cue:

With cue#1, Dieckman was using a steele pin. There is nothing "sudden"about 29 years in my opinion. So if you are about the facts, chew on that evidence.

Be careful about your creativity. A clever reference intended to say "your comments are propiganda" can sound like an anti-semetic characterization.

You are not Dieckman in this thread, not entirely by my reconning. You are speaking for the USBA when you address its needs publicly. Your intended meaning was lost, at least for a mutt like me, and I fear, many others.

As a young 3C player and cue collector, I love this idea and I sincerely hope that many cue builders choose to participate. The web site link will be valuable to me, and I will certainly have a good excuse to do business with any cuemaker who supports the growth of Billiards in America.

To that end, I encourage Mr. Wadsworth to build a cue. Don't support Dieckman, support the growth of a fine sport. If you build a simple cue that meets the the needs of billiard play, and inlay a red, yellow and white shark on the butt sleeve, I will be making a fair offer when it becomes available.

OOOOOOOK Now that we're back to battery on this thread I have an important question. Maybe I missed something while ducking the strays.

Since I'm not a cue builder and want to support the USBA I'm assuming there's gonna be a way to make a procurement transaction in some way. And procuring most likely means shelling out some dough. Where do the dough go and how much dough goes, in order to obtain one of these babies. Is this gonna be a Chinese drip. One cue a month or are several going at the same time and we all have to wrestle for one of the group.

I'm on the edge of my seat. Need some guidelines.

Thanks to all Cue Builders for putting in the sweat and tears. We need the support on this side of the lake.

Been there done that. Don't see anything there.

The reality is nothing will be available for months. The cues will start to drip in 6 or 8 months along with the rules of the game.

Just wanted to yank someone's chain and give him something else to do.

for an incoming president of an organization, not a great way to represent your group (not to mention the incorrect www)

initially was interested in what the USPA was all about, but seeing the types of unprofessional squabbling you "needed" to vent, i lost my interest.

i'm sure someone like you doesn't need my interest or business, but as an incoming president, just thought that a little more "presidential" behavior and language should be warranted.
 
rheester, your opinion is appreciated. But the part you quota, was not Dieckman speaking as Future USBA President. But as a dear friend of my since late Eighty. A person [Dieckman] that I respect and Have back his support for Junior and Ladies 3 Cushion, or other project.

After some consideration I have decided not to release the names of those that have said they would be building a cue for the USBA until the cue is actually delivered. There are several reasons for this.

1: some of the builders have requested that they not be mentioned in this regard, at least on AZ.

2: as there is no deadline some cues may take years to come in and I do not want to put pressure on the builders.

3. some may never send a cue [of the 13 cues promised to David Shayt of the Smithsonian he only got 9, or so I have heard, before he died] and I would not want to embarrass anybody by naming them now and never getting a cue from them, due to circumstances.

As the cues come in they will be announced. As to the manner the will be disposed of that is still up in the air. Will probably be decided on a cue by cue basis. Sorry, I am sure this will not be a satisfactory answer but it is a good as it will get.

My silly question is , Why do the cues need to be a single taper tip to but ?
This reminds me of the older and alot of current english snooker cues and the like of what Eddie Charlton used.
Where is the balance point on these cues?
Does the shaft have to be wood?

Neil:

The single taper is traditional and the very conservative billiard [all] player will suffer nothing else.
Balance point should be rearward rather than front balanced.
Build whatever you want, even one of your cuttlefish things and we will welcome it into the fold.
Who knows, you may revolutionize the game and the cues they play with. Will never know until one tries.....
