Hey folks,
The new Kamui tips have arrived.
So what is the difference... Besides being humidity resistant, I would say that the Kamui Blacks are for players that like to put more spin on the ball and use more English... Kamui originals are more for accuracy rather than spin (using draw, top English, center ball)...
When sending a pm to place an order make sure you include your name and email address please.

KAMUI BLACKS: $19.75 shipped (conus).
KAMUI ORIGINALS: $16.75 shipped (conus).

Do the black super soft play better then the brown ?

Good question... Don't know.
What I can tell you is that I play with a Black Soft on my SW and a Kamui Original Soft on my James White and I like them both... But I still prefer the black...

Is there any difference between the old and new blacks?

Hi All,
Benfica is right about the difference between the new brown and the new black.

The difference between the blacks is consistency. We had a tech break through with how we process our leather that we can provide even better consistency. So, are you going to notice a difference? Maybe, Maybe not.

The difference between the Brown is also consistency and humidity resistance. With our tech break through we can make the brown humidity resistant and we were able to make a SUPER SOFT tip. We did away with the medium soft as it shifts to the Soft. We do not want any more confusion with the grades of our tips. IF you are a MEDIUM SOFT user then the New Kamui Soft is what you want. You will feel no difference.

THEN this brings us to "WHY" would I want a brown over a black. Well, It all depends on your style of play. You have heard many say "play with a hard tip"...IN SHORT, there are a lot of opinions out there... What most opinions come from is their life experiences with tips that lead them to their "IMHO". Kamui Japan has taken this opinion and brought it to a science. This science of "FEEL" is what you want from your cue and with the way YOUR stroke is. Your "FEEL" or "FEEDBACK" from the cue ball is very important to your mental game and performance.

For example. You put a phenolic tip on your playing cue and try to play with it.. your mental confidence and connection with your cue is TOTALLY lost.

SO, You know what you like and you know how YOU play. This is why we produced this graph below. This is for you to determine 1. what hit do you like hit=feel. Soft or Hard. 2. Do you like accurate shooting with little english Or do you like to have ball control (SPIN with less force) on the table.
More elasticity to a tip the more spin and control you can achieve.

Then we go to this... What if I get a tip that is "just not right" it may be from too much elasticity. So the answer is to take 1 more layer off of the tip to reduce the elasticity. This would be "fine tuning" the tip. BUT taking too many layers off would mean you need to go to a harder tip for your FEEL of the ball.

Using the K.I.S.S. method here is the best way to go.

For me personally, I play with the Kamui Black SOFT and the BROWN Soft..(2 shafts).. Well, this comes to one more factor. THE TABLE. Sometimes humidity will react to the way the balls move on the table or a table with real bad felt.
I have matching shafts that have a brown tip that does not have a lot of elasticity to it for those times when I want more accurate shots and less ball spin. And a Black tip for those times when I need more control over the ball.

BTW... Benfica. Nice photography ;-) Those 2 photos were the first 400 tips brought in for PUB CON at BCA last month. So, If you got a swag bag with a sample tip in it... you might find "waldo" in the photos... lol Thank you Benfica for posting the photos.

I don"t have a horse in this race, but these are the best all around tips you can use.

Which Kamui tip is the best replacement for a Triangle? That is, which one plays and feels most like a proper Triangle?

Man... All I get is tough questions...
Not sure... None play like a triangle but in terms of hardness I would say the Kamui Original Medium. A Triangle is not a soft tip at all.

I have a cue that has the supersoft on it and it plays ok once the tips got broke in a little.I have always played with moori med or hards.
Does any know how the hit and action on the black med and hard compares to the moori?

A lot more action and feel. Can't go wrong with a Kamui...
