Wooden bead scorer question

I bought a wooden bead scorer and I am interested in how people have hung these. Also, they only go up to 50 and I want to add 3 beads to each end to represent increments of 50, making it go up to 150. Does anyone know where I can buy extra beads for it? I'll probably just make my own, but I want to see if there is a place that sells replacement parts that I could just use since they'll probably look better.

Sir,

if you can build extra beads for this thing, you should know how to hang them. Start by going to the hook department in you local hardware store.

Thanks

Those are quite inexpensive. I would probably just buy another set for spares and use a few from those for the additional markers. I would suggest nylon coated stainless wire to hang them on. The nylon coating should make it easier on the beads and ferrules.

Why do feel the need for additional markers?

Tramp, do you have any old Tinker Toys left?

LOL thanks for the honest advice! Actually I was more interested in creative ways people have set these up. I can't decide if I want to hang them from the ceiling like I've seen or just along a wall.

Anyone also know a place where I can get extra beads?

The nylon-coated stainless steel wire is a great idea. I have a passion for cotton rope. Probably from my other hobby. I'd like to use cotton string but it'll be hard to keep it rather tight, so I'll probably go with the nylon-coated stainless steel wire.

Back in the day they were usually hung on heavy gauge piano wire from wall to wall, with a small turn-buckle on one end to occasionally adjust tension. Those beads were somewhat larger and heavier than those found today and from what I remember were hung over the Snooker tables. :)

It's been my experience that nobody forgets when a player goes beyond 50 or 100 beads. I could only see need for that if you were somehow using them to score pool games.

Hey, Underclocked. What's the haps?
Did I ever congratulate you on your 2nd place finish at the Missouri State 9-Ball Tournament? Well done. :clapping:

Doh!!!!! I guess that's where the other hobby with cotton rope comes in. LOL

There are a few games that scores of larger then 50 points would be nice.

Ok, I just had a crazy idea pop up in my head. What if I mount these babies on a finished board and hang the whole thing up on the game room wall?

Here is a rough mock-up using (lol) two book shelves and the beads laying across them in two rows. The finished might need to be a little longer so they can have room to move.

I'd need to make one more bead with an eyelet to go at the end of the black row of beads. I'll get some nice brass hooks to hang the beads with eyelets in from. Maybe router the edges of the board and choose a nice looking finish. I think it would look nice.

If in the pool/game room, I could also use it to score *gasp* other games other then just pool. Wait, did I say that out loud on here?

You bought the Wood Score Marker:

Why didn't you also buy the Score Marker Hanging Kit at the same time?:

http://www.poolndarts.com/product.cfm?sku=38-475

As for wanting to count past 50, why not just get some clothspins (or whatever else) and clip one on each time you pass 50?

Honestly I figured they were packaged together as I didn't see a hanging kit on the website I ordered this from.

Sure I could use clothes pins or whatever but I think that takes the beauty out of it. I'm really thinking to just buy another set or cut my own beads out of dowel, which I like better for cost.

Wow, that's a fancy way to hang them! Nice score keeper!

Here's what I did. Bought 2 strings and made two 100 bead strings out of them (removed the numbers). Hung one at each end of the light.

Did you try a crafts store like Michaels for beads? As other stated, use piano or other rigid wire to string them up.
