High End in the Works!

I was excited to see some progress and that the wood that Dale had provided me was as good as he promised!
More time had passed and “BUILDER” got back in touch with me stating that he had made some more progress and shot me some more pictures of the points coming together along with the ring work…

Over the next year he sent me photos quite constantly of the progress he was squeezing in over his very busy schedule… I think he may have mentioned that he will be done with cues if life keeps up the way it has been going:frown:. Below are some pictures of the points being build and placed (each inlay was separated with black paper) that’s not black glue goop

(All photos above this point were taken by “BUILDER” himself, just giving credit where it is due!)
The plan was to have an elephant ear wrap that I supplied installed however “BUILDER” was honest with me and knew that I was slightly OCD so he told me he was not really comfortable installing a one piece wrap to perfection, and I told him not to worry as I can have Kenny Koo install one ;)
I received the cue late 2013 and although I wasn’t in a hurry I should have been I guess! I was shipped out overseas just before “BUILDER” was able to ship the cue… So my better half sent me some pictures when she received it! I was so happy with how it looked but upset that I wouldn’t be home for 6 months to see it in person :(
When I finally returned I picked up a black Engles Elephant case and was planning on shipping it out to Kenny Koo to have the wrap installed when my world flipped upside down. My grandfather had passed and never even got to see what I had been working on for him. A long time passed before I even took the cue out of the closet after that. :sorry:
So here it is 2015 and I am finally getting the cue off to Kenny to have the EE wrap put on… I hate shipping cues as I seem to have the worst luck in life and always have the fear of having one of my packages end up on one of the UPS/FedEx/USPS rant pages here. That being said I built a custom shipper that I will use from now on to ship any of my cues!

I had some ¾” glued & pressed tubes made! (These things are massive! I have run over my test tube with my Jeep, smashed it on a brick corner building as hard as I could and didn’t even dent it!) If they damage this I will bow my head in shameJ! I made some honeycomb 2” plugs for both ends of the tube and took an old 1x1 case and padded the sides to make it a super snug fit inside the tube (I had to attach a pull rope to the case as it was so snug!) The end caps are ¾” plywood and have a layer of weather stripping to prevent leakage into the tube, they are held down with spax (torx head) screws to keep wandering eyes of the shipping personnel kind out (almost anyone nowadays has a Phillips head screwdriver). It will cost me more to ship due to the weight but hell just the thought of knowing it is bomb proof makes me sleep better at night. I also drilled a pressure relief hole in the tube just in case (should also help acclimate the tube).

Below are some photos I took of the shipping tube, along with photos of the cue pre-shipping…

Beautiful cue and great story.Shame your grand father wasn't able to see what you did for him.

I'm jumping the gun and nominating this cue for the 2015 cue of the year!

I'm glad someone on here doesn't mind the malachite! I keep reading how everyone has it on their "gripes" with pool cues list. I will say though it only looks good on Ivory or Ebony ;)

Once the cue is ""COMPLETE"" I will have better photos

When it`s done right, it`s done right! And that cue certainly is done right!

Are you the cumaker or the customer?

Not the maker! I was trying to get people to guess but seems slow on here nowadays :) all the action is on the for sale page lol.

I'll post the signature photo once it gets back from Kenny!
