Does anyone know if Albin gambles?

I'm not starting this thread to disparage Albin's recent great accomplishment and I hope no one else does either. Albin is a WORLD CHAMPION.

I'm just curious if he gambles or not. It seems that some Europeans gamble while others do not and I was wondering how many of the Europeans would gamble with Shane at 9 ball or 10 Ball for 10K or more?

Personally, I think the rivalry between Europe and the U.S.A is a good thing and should be encouraged.

Why? Cause he won a tournament? Just curious

Ya that's excatly why its asked , he may or may not I don't see why he would unless he was put in , I think he's way to smart to risk his own money unless it's on the cheap

There's this ridiculas notion that the best gambles are the best players I doubt he drinks that koolaid because it's not true by any stretch of the imagination

I am guessing that the OP's question would be comparable to asking if Allison Fisher gambles (which I would assume that she does not). Some players just do not seem like the gambling type (like maybe they are too classy for that sort of thing). Another player who comes to mind is, landon shuffett (he seems too classy, and clean cut, if I am using the right words, to be involved in gambling for big money, or gambling at all). I do not know these players though, but I imagine there are many great world beaters out there that just do not believe in gambling. Then there are players like Justin Bergman (who seem to me, like born gamblers). Players like Bergman, who might put every last dollar that they have to their name on a match, and risk going home flat broke.

You assume wrong about Allison. And you are also very wrong about those willing to lay money on their skill as not being classy or clean cut.

By and large, the top tourney players are more likely to win at gambling then the gamblers are to win in tourneys.
Tourneys are tougher than gambling play . Period. :)

I am sorry. You are turning things around on me. I did not mean to say that the players that do play for big money at pool are not classy or clean cut. I think that maybe pool in the US is looked down upon for that reason (illegal gambling in smoke filled pools halls, and such activities being associated with violence, and other bad things). I just meant that maybe some players feel like they are above that type of thing, and maybe they also do not need to do it. Some players are just great tournament players, and not gamblers.

It's not really that tourneys are tougher, it's more of a different mind set. Tourneys are like sprinters, and gamblers are like marathon runners.

I didn't turn anything around on you, they were your words. And, what you are forgetting, is the public in general doesn't separate gambler and non-gambler pool players. You are either a pool player, or you aren't.

Yeah, like in The Hustler. Fast Eddie was probably the better player, but Fatts was the better gambler.

Yeah, but I did not think of it in that way (when I said it). Some players are just not into the gambling scene, and just like to play tournaments. The tournament players who do not gamble just seem smarter to me. They do not risk their livelihood on a pool match. Think of tournaments poker players (of the past), and poker players who just gambled for a living. I believe the tournament players lived much better and safer lives. I think it has always been the same way for pool. Willie Mosconi for example. I do not know, but I imagine that he rarely gambled. The tournament players are remembered (not the gamblers). Maybe some players just play tournaments, because they want to be remembered, and live long and happy lives (without the worry of some day losing everything on 1 match). Oh, I forgot, the gamblers of today are not really gamblers. They all use backers. Still, maybe some players just do not want to be a part of that scene, and believe it to be rotten, and no good.

just curious why you want to know that?
if the answer is yes what does that mean to you?
if the answer is no what does that mean to you ?

No, not 'cause' he won a tournament, it's because he has been in the money in many-a competition over the past few years.
Albin is doing well; enough to survive for now I would imagine.

Not necessarily. If your bet is ten dollars, and you've only got five in your pocket, then that can be tougher than a three dollar steak. :)

Could be wrong..

Correct me if I am wrong please, but don't the European's make a Salary for being ranked a "B" level professional or higher in the Euro tour? I heard recently that Neils Feijen makes a professional salary at the level he competes at in the Netherlands.

$30,000 yr. iirc

Paid by whom?

I would love to see winner breaks, race to 30 9b between albin and shane. Diamond 9ft 4.25" pockets.

For 10K each. Somebody please set this up. There should be plenty of bad blood especially IF euro wins MC this yr and both plays
