This seems to be addictive....

Welcome and remember, you are not alone with many here including myself.

My advice, try a variety of different tips. Often overlooked in the beginning and playing whatever came or comes with your Cue they greatly effect how a cue 'hits' and plays.

Tips are a cheap but worth their weight in gold when you find a density and brand you like. Be aware, tip feel/play is personal and subjective.

-Kat,

Trying to get used to my Morakami soft tip on my OB 2 plus. Get tons of english off of this set up and love the hit. Now I'm trying to get precise in controlling the english.

-Kat,

Thank You for the greeting and I have been thinking about it....I would like to know and will learn how to do things....including tips myself...I didn't know how to build an AR-15 but I do now....You Tube is awesome....But the only way to lean is to research and try

Save the DYI on tips and let a good repairman handle that chore as easy as it appears. You have money and tips installed should run only $15-$30.

-Kat,

One thing I've noticed watching ustream tournaments...The lower ranked amateurs love cues that flash while the better players tend to go with the more plain looking cues like sneaky petes, merry widow, and simple 4 point designs. This is NOT saying these are cheap cues. Many of the quality custom cue builders also make these designs to customer specifications.

I realize this is generalizing and exceptions can be found...

Also, the top pros who are sponsored use the product of those who sponsor them, so don't look to them to decide what is best for you.

Agreed ^ :groucho:

This is not so different from guns....When I first started shooting AR's I wanted lasers, grips, lights, can openers on the gun....now i just want it clean....nothing but the optic if it needs one....slick rails...clean lines

Correct me if I'm wrong. PW, but didn't Balabushka believe that cues with a lot of inlays, and such, lacked the feel of a less ornate cue? I think he always said that, sometimes.
Truth to tell, I kind of like a little bling, myself. :)

I want a new Aimpoint Carbine Optic for mine.

I got back into playing pool for about 6 years now after A 35 year break I tried a lot of cues I only have one now and a breaker, it's a Jack Madden plain Jane and it's a player.

So I started back playing pool three weeks ago....Since then I have bought a Joss JOS04 and a Lucasi LHF 11....Now I know this is no where near the money you guys have in the cues you own but I can see this being a problem....I am already looking at new shafts, Custom Cues....I see this becoming my new addiction like guns...Is this a natural phenomenon...lol

If you want to keep your money and not spend it on cues, accessories, ebony and gold chalk holders, do not visit the forums. Visit some bars where the best cue you'd find is a 10 yr old $200 base model McDermott, that will make you feel better.

I Just got one for My CZ Scorpion.....Just damn sexy....So much I moved it to one of my AR's and put a vortex on the CZ

Here's is a great place to learn "kicking & banking", on YouTube. "Manning's Cues & Tor Lowry", will get you there...

Good Luck

The best advice I can offer, not that you were looking for any, is stop now.....right now......it only gets worse.
Unless you are well heeled, this can become a very expensive infatuation....stop now or ...or....go buy
1 big cue.

So you go and buy that 1 big cue. Only to find that your $300 sneaky has better hit, feel and balance. So do you put the big 1 in a case and stash it in the corner for the next ten years? Or do you talk the talk and play the big 1, saying it's the greatest stick since GB died?

Well hopefully, you know what you are doing when you buy the one big cue.....you either custom order it the way you want or you test drive the cue beforehand.
This eliminates any chance the $300 SP would ever play or feel better. I mean you wouldn't drop that kind of money for a big cue unless you were head over heels
in love with the way it test played. If you order like I do with very exact specs, then there is zero chance that SP cue would be considered except as a locker cue.

Once you drop some major coin on a cue, you tend to compare everything that comes along with the cue you already own......and let's face it, no one needs two cues
priced at $4-5k each. One is plenty & remember, it would play great because of the specific way you had the cue made or when you got to play with the cue before buying,
it rocked your world.

If I drop 4 to 5k on a cue I will be the dali lama of cue knowledge about what I want

Whatever you do or decide, just don't settle or you'll always have some buyers remorse......get what you want or what your budget allows.........NUF CED.

Im having a spending problem myself. Wanting an acog for one of my AR's but at the same time that sure would buy a nice cue lol

I thought one cue was plenty and 2 cues are more than enough. And then boredom sets in. Here comes cue #x and then another. But it gets worse. When you think you have enough for now it's Case time or racks for the wall. And they must be full... But it's gets a level sicker... That's when we send our $35 Dufferin 1 piece cues out for $200 or more for conversion. It does not end. But it's over when Fats says it's over.
Welcome to the club. Buy whatever you can afford and have fun.
