How much is pool time at your neck of the woods?

One place is $16/hour up to 4 players.

Another is $16/hour each. Must get another table if 2 or more players. It could be the pandemic but pool has exceeded minimum wage years ago. I use to play for $5/hour.

Sadly, pool has become a luxury here just like bowling. An evening of bowling, drinks and food for two is over $100.

A 3 hour session of pool and beers cost me near $100 with a friend.

Rich man's game. Have to buy equipment to play if you don't already have your rig. It's becoming like golf. Heck, it's more expensive than golfing.

This Realestate boom has been one HUGE factor in the demise of pool over the last 25-30 years.

Pool was the cheapest or among the cheapest forms of entertainment for decades. In the 80’s it was cheaper to play pool for 2 hours than go to a 2 hour long movie. Try that now in LA, impossible.

Now to play pool full time it’s a luxury hobby. It takes $50-$100/day to play pool time in LA and eat once while at the pool room. Rich people don’t play pool.

Sure smoking bans hurt pool, so did poker, video games, internet. But at the end of the day IMO pricing has made pool room impossible to operate at a profit and so goes pool.

In markets like LA we have 20,000,000 people and a handful of rooms. Why? It’s not a viable biz to operate. So the rooms disappeared over the years and the interest in pool has faded as a result of no place to play. Open a room now in LA and nobody would show up-just a few people either hardcore or by accident.

In contrast in Atlanta where the property prices have not went crazy and you can lease a space for $1/sf and there is still a strong pool playing culture there it’s possible to open a room and find some success.

However on a wide spectrum pool has died in many areas like LA, Chicago, NYC etc. sure there are exceptions-that’s a different topic.

It is just too damn expensive to play now and gambling has almost seized due to this. Nobody comes out not even the old timers due to prices here. They are on social security and can't be bothered playing when they say they have tables at home.

Drinking crowds still play but again it is getting ridiculously expensive for them so the leagues are more financially beneficial.

You have to post-up just to play for the time now🤣😂

$10 for 5 hours during the week, evenings.

At Big Dog's. I rarely last the 5 hours anymore.

Now, if you want a drink, that's another story.

Five buck an hour at my local room.
Ten bucks from 10am to 2pm six days a week.
Sunday 10 bucks from 9am to 2pm.
They do not serve alcohol but do serve food.
Don't play much in the evenings anymore so this just suits me fine except tonight.
Feel like playing in the 9 ball tournament.

League pool has saved lots of rooms from doom. Sadly in Ca the math doesn’t work at all. Leagues help out but aren’t enough. The drinkers help too, but again not in LA.

When rent is $3/ft unless your dealing blow out of the back door you are drawing dead in the pool room biz. I’m not about to get into that mess of a idea but that’s about the only way to make it work here. Booze, leagues, pool time, food won’t cover costs-period. Sad but true.

Free (included) with any $10 food/beverage purchase every day until 6pm.

Free on league nights (M-Th) after 6pm for all league members regardless if they’re playing that night or not. A flat $15 for up to 4 players per table 6pm to 2am weekend nights.

Honestly, as a regular who takes good care of the staff, I can’t remember the last time I paid for table time, even on the weekend.

Yep, we’re spoiled!

It's funny, my playing bud is about 25 years younger than I am, but 2 weeks ago he ran out of gas first.

Sadly everything for me ran out of gas….. longevity isn’t a thing in my genetics. Only one uncle lasted a long time. Everyone else died young.

$ has gone up but how about just availability.
The rooms locally now operate only part time.

Don’t open until 4 & 5 pm, close at midnight
except Fri & Sat 2 am, and the biggest one
Is only open Thurs - Sun but Sunday is only
from 1pm - 6pm. Rates are up, now $10/hr.

$5 all day 2-7 pm during the week and 12-7 on the weekends
per person but you must also buy a drink which could be a bottled water

Well I am not sure about the cost to play in Phoenix, AZ area of AZ.

But many of the Rooms & Bars with Pool tables have closed.

The list is long of plays that were, and did not reopen as place to play Pool.

I pass the Old Famous Location known as Alexander’s Bar. It is now a cell phone repair place.

Pockets in Tucson $8 from 11am to 6pm daily.
I think a couple days per week it's $8 from 6pm to close.
One day it's $2.50/hr/player after 6pm
Only Fri, Sat, and one other night have no specials iirc.
Can't beat it.
I was paying more back in IL 20yrs ago.

Sandcastle in New Jersey. Day rate $6 an hour or $18 you play from 11am to 6pm. Evening rates $8an hour or $30 from 6pm to 2am. Seven days a week. Per person. I think there is a discount in the evening for more than 4 people on a table. Byob. There are refrigerator to use
