Having a second/backup playing cue butt

I finally have the setup I have wanted for a while, awesome playing cue, break cue/shaft, jump stick, and backup shaft. But now I have a second playing cue butt that I never really use and its just taking up space in my case.

I thought about using it with my break shaft and making it my break cue, but I find it a little weird using a nice playing cue butt just for breaking, not something you see every day.

Do you guys have and keep multiple cues hanging around?

I have several playing and break cues, I did thought about converting my older playing cues to a break cues, but a cue built to be a dedicated break cue has some advantages over a converted playing cue....
 
I do keep a backup playing cue but I don’t carry it with me in my case, it stays home in an extra case I have.

Partly I keep it because I love it and it’s a cue I custom ordered for myself. It’s also the same maker as my player and they can share shafts. My thinking leaving it at home is if the worse happens and my case ever gets stolen while I’m out at least I know I still have a cue I love at home that I can pull out if needed.
 
I carry an extra playing shaft in my case but not an extra butt.
I have plenty of additional cues at home.
I typically have them hanging, full length, with the extra shafts in extra cases.

You have a break cue already, so no real use for this other cue as a break cue. If you have the space in your case and don't mind the extra weight, keep it there so your friends can borrow it if needed. I keep several extra things in my case, mostly so other players can try some new things out.
At one point I was using like a $1,000 playing cue as a break cue when I was playing with my son's new cue, I'm sure many have done the same.
 
My backup butt stays at home. I have some nice Lucasi house cues but when a stronger player shows up without a cue I let them use my backup.
 
I keep 4 butts, 1 for breaking, 3 for playing.
I got 12 shafts , 10 in my playing bag , 1 break shaft, 2 revos ,2 engages, 1 custom ferrule-less, 1 z2, 1z3, 1 Hsu ferrule-less, 1 jump shaft.
Ill only take 3 shafts and 3 butts with me to halls/tourneys I attend, the rest stay at the house.
Depending on the table & equipment Im playing on/with, determines which shaft/butt combo I choose to use .

Truthfully after reading this post back to myself, I now realize that Im also kind of a fiend for LD shafts, and I should probably sell some off😁.
The issue for me is theres certain shafts like the z2 or z3 which I rarely use but keep because they have sentimental value to me , due to bets, tournaments, or championships I may of won with them .

Holy crap.
 
I carry a break cue and two playing cues. I have no actual evidence to support this, (just a feeling) but I find if I use a 19.5 once cue on slower tables, and my lighter 18 ounce cue on faster tables, my speed control is more consistent.

Also if I'm not playing well on some particular night, sometimes just changing cues will bring me out of the slump. Yeah... I know... it's all in my head. But sometimes it works.

I have a 2x4 so I take my current player to practice and and stuff the other holes with the flavor of the month, a jump shaft, and a spare shaft for the player. The rest of the jump break stays home; don't really need a breaker. Every year or two I'll change whatever is in the extra holes or the player but so far the one I'm on is a keeper.
 
I might as well play along, (1) Becue natural born break cue and shaft, (1) McDermott stinger jump cue, shaft in the main bag, handle in jump handle pocket, (1) David Tice Sneaky Pete and shaft (1) Becue natural born naked playing cue with (1) Engage 11.8 mm and (1) Engage 12.3 mm shafts, all shafts are 30" .... this thread has the feel of a "what's in the bag" video without the video.
 
I really was asking if anyone carries their back up or second favored cue butt in their case along with their main player, breaker and shafts...but I like where this has gone
 
I think this is pretty much how everyone rolls here at some point . The old cue becomes a break cue eventually
