Are Gold Crowns Still Being "Diamondized?"

Not a bad idea!

Bentley’s drive MUCH better. But the gap is closing on that a bit.

I’ve had that car 14 years and it’s got 5500 miles on it. It’s a waste of $. I don’t drive much anyways but that car drives worse than just about any car I’ve owned. Looks cool, that’s it.

On the topic of GC’s the only thing to do is extend the rails a bit to make a 1P pocket profile. Otherwise leave them be! I’d never modify a GC. Against my religion

Fatboy<—-loves GC’s
Amen brother!!😉

That’s my house, I had to downsize a couple times. I’ve been very lucky. I’m actually selling that house and leaving Ca. I had a crazy huge house in Vegas until 2011 or 12.

It’s not a happy ending, that house in the pic is by far the most comfortable move to live in house I’ve ever lived in, it’s not near the most expensive or largest. Bigger isn’t more comfortable-so I’ve been told😂😅😉. Ok that’s a lie, nobody told me that ever……

LA sucks these days, I’m bored to tears living there. Staying home is amazing, beyond that it’s not good. My insurance went up from 12K a year to 145K. And the cost of living in LA is just too much for what it’s became. So I left. It’s in escrow now. I wish I could take it with me and set it somewhere else.

I bought that house in the pic from Dr Dre in 2019. When I’m officially out of there I’ll post pics and the address. Never met Dre, he owned it 21-22 years. That just the back story-kinda cool. I also have 2 sets of pool balls he left I’ll post pics of, they are customized with his name on them. I sold his table. Was a 8’ POS home table.

I still owe you a pm, I haven’t forgot. I pop on here make a post and bounce out. I need to write you

What's up w the insurance rates?? That's over 1000 % increase!!! Fires, or crime or what??

I just tried this several times. Hitting them center ball real hard - hard for me - I basically got 4 and 1/4. The last time I got 4 and 1/2.

I had new SuperSpeed cushions put on a few years ago.

The table had 5" pockets when I bought it brand new. A few years ago I had the pockets shimmed to 4 1/2.

I went down and broke about 15 racks earlier today. Of those 15 breaks I either had no chance or no balls down on 13 of them. Twice I made a ball and had a shot but both were very difficult shots.
I'll send some happy JuJu your way. You could try burning some sage around it.😉

It’s a California thing.

State Farm dropped off last year, went shopping for a new policy and that was the math. It’s a stupid place to live now. So I left.

It was amazing place to live for many years. I kept a house in LA and Vegas for over 20 years at the same time. Then went to LA mostly full time. Things started to derail on Ca in about 2016. Most ppl I m own who could leave have left by now. I’ll never go back-not even for a visit. It’s a wrap

That's just sad bro. Sorry to hear it went down like that. In more ways than one. Midwesterners are clueless.

I remember back in the 80’s when I lived in the Valley, my friends would go to Oregon to spend some time there. People would tell them “go back where you came from”. Now you can’t tell any difference between California, Oregon, and Washington, at least not in the big population centers. Overall California is the most beautiful state, crying shame it’s a complete mess.

I have the rack from Outsville.

I just went back down to the table and broke 19 more racks of 9Ball. Nothing. No chances to run out. Either no balls made or had no shot. The last rack two balls went in but I ended up completely snookered and no shot on the 9B.

I just threw - YES, THREW! - the cue down, shut the dehumidifier off, turned off the light, and came back upstairs. I am sick and tired of this. Literally sick and tired. There has to be something wrong. It can't be this bad without something being wrong.
Try a different brand template rack. I also have a outsville template rack i bought at DCC a few years ago and don’t make as many balls as i do with my plastic magic rack. I believe some of those Outsville racks were defective? I thought i read/heard that? Without reading this entire thread also make sure your balls are clean maybe buy a ball polisher if you don’t already have one as this does help. I personally would try a new brand of template rack if all other things you’re doing is good (one on spot, making sure all balls are touching, breaking from the side rail if one is on the spot and hitting the head ball square).

There is a bit of a learning curve to the Outsville rack. You need to load the first 8 balls and then push forward slightly the lock them in place and put the last ball in place holding them all together.

It's the flattest of the template racks, but it also isnt the best for locking balls in place until you learn how to do it.

I have the Magic rack, Turtle rack and the Outsville rack. Still think the magic rack is the best.

Im sorry, could you repeat that? Did you say $145K per year????!!!!! That is beyond crazy!! I don't earn enough to pay that much for insurance.

There is no way I am going to post a video of me playing. Everybody would laugh and make fun of me and the way I play. Find nothing but fault with everything I do. Spread it around the internet.

You can forget this. Not going to happen.
Dude, just post video of your breaks, that's where the biggest complaint is, anybody can break a 9 ball rack without looking like a dork, all you have to do is shoot the cue ball kinda fast and hit the 1 ball, best of all there is no right way or wrong way, only productive and non productive ways.

What happens when you play on other tables??

Fatboy makes that and then some playing backgammon. Oops. Word's out bro.😉 Looks like it's Tiddlywinks from here on out.

I just broke 25 racks of 9-Ball. From various positions. I had three (3) chances to run out. I got out once. I hosed them up twice. I say twice but one of them was a somewhat difficult position play.

After the last rack (#25) where nothing was made I took BIH and attempted to run out. I made a couple of good shots to get to the 5B but missed on the 5B trying to get position on the 6B. Here is the shot I missed. It was of medium difficulty and I slightly overcut the 5B.

Anyway, the point being that of those 25 racks I failed to make a ball at least half the time. Probably more like 16-17 times nothing went in.

If you can afford to voluntarily live in LA, you can probably afford to self-insure. Just saying.

Even at my highest earning years I never made enough to “pay” that much for insurance.

The replacement cost for just construction would be about $10M on that structure. So a premium of 1.45% which is absolutely insane. The guy across the street has a similar houses paying $340,000 a year-yes $340,000 not a typo. This is how stupid Ca has became.

My property tax and insurance adds up to about $200,000 before I turn on the lights. Remember in Ca you pay over 50% in taxes. So the first $450,000 of income is gone before the lights are turned on or I eat a crumb. News flash, I refuse to play in that sandbox.

So I left. Never looking back. Even if I was making $20,000,000/year, I’d leave.(I’ve never made that much)

My best years were $8.5M a year and that was back in 2001-2008. I don’t make much now. And I’m not gonna go broke sitting in Ca fading that nut.

So I made some big changes.

Life is good! I’ve been lucky.

And I sold the house for ~50¢ on the dollar from what it would cost to build. Market is soft, I still made $ as I bought it right a while back. So I’m not gonna complain about that. But I will complain about staying there.

That’s the whole story,

These days I live a very simple happy life. Great memories and I know I got all the juice out of the oranges when it mattered. 😉

Like I said, _voluntarily_ afford. Same with most major US cities. Be a billionaire or GTFO. You enjoyed a life most can only dream of, get out before it becomes a nightmare. At least you got out while you could still get 50c on the dollar. Eventually it will burn down, get hit by land/mudslides, flooded, or destroyed by an earthquake. Same with coastal anywhere (Florida). Insurance companies aren't stupid and they exist to make a profit, they GTFO first.

I'm a non billionaire, or millionaire for that matter. I bought 25 years ago when homes were "affordable" but would probably be house poor if we wanted to live in our neighborhood and were in the market today. CA has its downsides no doubt, just like any other place in the country or world, for that matter. It is expensive and crowded, but I would rather live in our climate and fade the downsides than live somewhere where it snows or is miserably hot and/or humid in the summer but "affordable". We live very comfortably here and are not wealthy by any means. Upper middles class maybe, but certainly not wealthy.

You live in Los Angeles?

But yeah, I hear you, I would love to live there if I could afford it.
