It’s always the most expensive action, sometimes there’s 1-2-3 blind bids. I don’t recall seeing 4 but it’s possible-but rare.
Any ways yes you get first choice or which ever blind bid you buy ie 2nd or 3rd, so ur laying a big price for the pick. Usually the first 2 are the same price and the 3rd is discounted a bit as is the case here. Kinda depends on the field.
Rum Runner tourney in Vegas always does a Calcutta, as I recall the first 2 are blind there and used to be $5000 each (could be more now-I’m referring to 10-12 years ago). I watched a guy buy the first 2 he paid the $10K. SVB was one of them and can’t recall the other player. He layed such a big price he got his $ back plus just a little-if SVB and his other pic didn’t finish both in top 3 he would have lost $(as I recall, was a bad bet) SVB won.
I did a terrible job of explaining the Rum Runner story, sorry. But the point is, the blind bids are THAT strong.
I just want over the sheet for Buff’s this week with a champion player for the last 30 minutes-we bet on who goes farther between similar priced players. Just friendly sweat bets between us. We decided the best value on the sheet overall considering price (ofc the 3 in the blinds are huge favorites) but value bet is Justin Hall for $7000. For $7000 he’s undervalued and a great bet.
Anyways that’s a bit about Calcutta and how they create fun, action, and are good for this format of pool. Not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s cool. I love them

Fatboy <———would have went for 12¢ on that sheet
