BK Rush

There was a new batch came out today. I tried my best to get one but w/o success. I got on four sites within two minutes of when they went on sale and only had a shot a two. Both of those sites gave me problems with "add to your cart" and but in both cases they were sold out within 2 minutes. During those two minutes the sites were jammed up and nothing was responding quickly. I assume because they had too much traffic. I had to select shaft length and weight prior to putting it in the cart and I just could not get that done before they sold out. Very frustrating and a weird way to see cues to be sure. I am currently trying to purchase one second hand.

It's not a piss poor model for making themselves money if there's clueless newbs and fanboys to shell out for them. Business is what they do well. Love for the growth of the game is something they do good at feigning.

This is how resale value stays up. But you gotta do what you gotta do if you want one.

I really don't know why Predator took such awful pictures. The ones on Instagram and Tictok look much brighter. Neon instead of Pastel.
 
So when the new batch of BK Rush just arrived at Predator website with price tags under $900, it seems they were all sold out immediately to soon arrive in "second hand" market with a substantial premium. Good business for the buyers if they keep on selling for those prices. Eventually the bubble will burst when players find other options or run out of the money. I know this shenanigans will attract some buyers, but personally it's a no for me, dawg.

Same thing Chinese market does to custom made snooker cues... buy in bulk, re-sell for extortionate mark up. Hazard to guess just how many of those make their way to the Middle Kingdom upon each "new" release (hate even calling it a new release... changing the colour of something is not the same as creating a new product)

I see what you are saying. Its a good point. But I'm starting to look at it like this...

There are 100 chicken nuggets all baked and sitting on top of the oven in your mom's house. You ask mommy for a plate of nuggets.
In universe 1: You're brought a plate of 10 nuggets. You gobble them up and put your dish in the sink like a good kid.
In universe 2: You're brought a plate of 5 nuggets. You're like wtf is this mom!, gobble them up and ask for a second plate. The second plate has another measly 5 chicken nuggets. Again you look at the small amount as they quickly disappear into your belly. You order a 3rd plate and at the end you realize you can't eat anymore.

But to sell out in one day? Shoot 5 minutes?

They have been selling these things for years, They should know how many they should make. If they want to make a batch is that small make a number limited edition. Then hop the price up

You're right. I have a feeling resellers have bots watching the site. I mean who knows... I know they make like double profit releasing them in Asia. Maybe 90% of supply gets release outside of the USA. On top of Resellers gobbling the US supply and shipping them to Japan for a tidy profit. Also, the neon green is limited and they did bump up the price.

That is all very logical, but this is well outside of the realm of manufacturing and economic quantities and into product management and marketing. The job isn't to manufacture the exact quantity that can be sold, it's to maximize the profit per sale, the margin of the overall line, and promote the brand.

The value of the hype around the release can't be understated.
 
In my opinion, this marketing/ production behavior allows Predator to charge about $1000 a cue. The demand allows Predator to raise prices and save them money in storage space. They create a hype that make people willing to spend more just to be in the club.

I also don’t believe that Predator sells out in 5 minutes all the stock to individuals, dealers and resellers come first.

Not sure if I am following you correctly but I checked Predator's top 5 authorized dealers in the first hour of the release and none of them had even the product listing page except Seybert's who probably created the page just for search engine traffic. 99% sure they never had any stock.

I keep saying resellers, but what I mean is scalpers.
