Pool chalk

Pagulayan or TAOM V10 and maybe some boxes of Blue Diamond for people who don’t know how to properly chalk.
It is not equivalent to TAOM but is very clean chalk I played for years before switching chalk brands. A few pieces of
TAOM will set you back a lot more than several boxes of Blue Diamond. Keep the TAOM on hand for better players.
This guy is a champion, he knows how to chalk. get Taom, best out there and will last you a year

I really wonder how people are making such a mess with chalk. They have it all over their hands, cues, tables, floors...
Power tools has to be the answer
My bridge hand fingers get chalk between them, I chalk with my bridge hand, I don't switch hands to chalk like most people. I think it's because I do some things lefty and some righty, I write left hand but shoot right hand.

I switch hands. I vac and brush the table every 2 weeks or so. Wipe my cue now and then. Any messiness is negligible.

No matter what chalk you use, your still have to clean your equipment now and then.

My ferrule is clean, hands don't look like a smurf, shaft isn't blue, cloth looks just about as good as it did 5 years ago, no skids.

I don't understand the hype I guess. For $70 I have enough chalk for a lifetime.

Don't care if I lose one down a pocket, someone steals it, if I forget it, it doesn't roll away, every pool hall has the same type. No downside in my experience.

Do you give people power tools to apply chalk?? I cant say that I have ever seen "piles" of chalk anywhere.

"Piles" is probably hyperbole, but there is no doubt that the new chalks are cleaner. I can play for hours on my table and have clean hands. 30 minutes at the pool hall, where they use Masters, and the heel of my hand has chalk all over it from the Masters in the cloth. Stomp around a little and you'll see a cloud of Masters coming off the floor, too.

Taom V 10 is probably best far a cleaner home table. In a public room - at $20 per cube- it will disappear faster then one can imagine and eventually cost prohibitive for a business . Even if you try to manage the inventory - it would be a losing proposition - IMO - unless it is a very small room with honest repeat customers- not too common in pool circles.

That just means the pool hall doesn't get kept clean. I never have that black/ blue mark on my hand at home or at a hall that vacuums and wipes down the tables daily. Only at places the don't take care of their equipment.
Not a chalk problem.

There isn’t any. I wouldn’t go using some cheap shit you get at Walmart but other then that if you like it use it.

i do agree the light colored greenish chalk is slightly softer and goes on easier and you use less because of it.

but masters chalk doesn't get all over the table and your hands . unless you make it so.

Triangle and Master are in no way the same chalk.
I’m not saying they’re the same, the same company makes them. I’m saying the light green Masters that several posters noted as being “different” than other colors of Master, IS different in consistency than other colors of Master, and that this one color of Masters that is different. Is the same consistency as Triangle. Check it out yourself.

WTF would i do that???? Only chalk the halls ever had was blue Master or maybe green Triangle and they aren't even close. I gave all that Tweeten shit up a couple yrs ago. Taom only from now on.

My point I suppose is that all chalk makes some sort of "dirt". That amount of dirt between chalks is negligible.
Oh boy, you really don’t know what you’re writing about or haven’t tried that many different chalks.

The amount of debris & chalk dust is dependent on only 2 things: chalk quality & chalking technique.

You can’t make players change their chalking technique and an incredibly high % of players suck at
chalking their cue tip correctly and all you need do is examine their chalk to confirm they twist it on.

Sure, they may rub chalk on their tip but most often it’s just them swiping the sides of the hole they
made in the middle of the chalk from misapplying it to their cue’s tip. OMG, rule #1….chalk correctly.

Okay, so some people are going to chalk the way they always do regardless of the chalk’s quality.
Oh well, fukem…..you can’t help idiots that are too stubborn or lame brained to learn and change.

However, regardless of your chalking method, some chalks are just crap. The chalk debris created has
not only dust but fine pieces and flakes. OMG, if your want flakes, go buy some Kellogg’s cereal and
make it Raisin Bran or Meuslix. This just might help open your mind aside from evacuating your bowels.

If you brush your table with the debris some cheap chalks create, your are pushing into the fibers of the
table cloth where it gradually builds up. That crap has to be vacuum removed and brushing won’t do it.

None of that happens with TAOM and I presume applies to some other top quality, more expensive chalks
that last a very long time because the players that buy these chalks usually apply the chalk correctly. Tables
remain cleaner, your hands never discolor nor are there chalk stains on the cue tip ferrules or the cue shaft.

I am not saying if you play a different chalk it is bad. What I am saying playing any chalk and applying it
incorrectly needlessly creates debris so never chalk your tip over the pool table or rails. I can’t make you
or anyone change how they apply chalk. I’m merely asking or informing folks never chalk over the table.

Pool halls give you’re chalk. Anything free is not the best quality but it doesn’t mean it is crap. Masters is a
good chalk but it’s messier than TAOM. So don’t chalk over the table and apply it correctly. The chalk will play
fine and the dirt/debris will be minimized, albeit more than if TAOM chalk was used. But the end result is fine.

Chalk and pool table cloths have had a relationship down through the centuries. Both have changed and IMO,
go with the changing times but just applying chalk correctly goes a long way toward minimizing chalk debris.
