looking for suggestions

So i am looking at a few cues, one is joss jossp01 and also looking at some Schmelke cues. Yes i do like the sneaky pete style, had an old J&J long time ago but got rid of it. I am not one for having a break cue and then swap over time. These are well two brands i haven't had the chance to shot with in my years of playing. Looking to hear from those who have had one of these to provide a bit of input. I like a solid hit, no ping sounds when hitting. I have had a chance to try a few other cues in past.

please dont mention price is better. I am looking for honesty with things, with something as a true sneaky pete. The custom i have i bought for 250 back in 2000 but well for somethings i am wanting to possible retire that for normal play.

Two totally different cues. You would have to try both to get a feel. Nothing wrong with either ...it's what feels good to you.

thank you, just not sure, since i havent tried either, and well not sure if i can for my area, even with over 30 years playing, i dont think i have tried these brands

I have a few Schmelkes..... very well made. Nice to play with. Only nit pick is if using an aftermarket shaft (REVO, 312, etc,) there is a slight lip at the joint ...but not a deal breaker. My buddy has a Schmelke Bocote sneaky and it's a beautifully figured piece of wood.

oh that is great to know, alot for what i need to know. ill have you know for me for a cue is break and play, since at this time i dont want a decated break que, im more a player just rather not have wrap. so the ones i am looking at are maple shaft.

my current custom is 3/8's 10 wood, and love that connection, a good solid connection with no ping. with a few others i tired , had a bit of ping,
i have earlier post for identifying a custom i had, which is believed a david barber but also well made by freddie yates when they were together.

If you use your player for breaking.. the ferrule is going to crack eventually....maybe use a house cue to break.

none of anything matters about a cue. if it hits the way you want buy it. and use it.

if you are collecting or want to impress those your playing with the looks or brand of your cue then thats a different story.

you may have some particular style you like then you can add that to the hit.

i am not looking to collect, just the differences to hit is all before i decide to buy, since these are two i haven't used in 30 years of playing. its about knowing who has used them to know a bit of difference is all.

i am aware that the joss i am looking at is more than the Schmelkes ok. its never about price for me but hit quailty, if i could get my j&j from well 2000 id get that but well that was well about a 17 queue and not for breaking as well as playing, for what i am looking for is well great for overall before i have to well get back into things with out a decicated break, and well for a cue is a nice sneaky peak, since i like the style

and that was my suggestion. which i dont guess you were really looking for that.

so good luck with how you go.

thank you, its not like in the area i am in and well im not in the game as much as i used to be, to try all, so why i posted what i did, to get a better understanding from those who have used them

@GoldCrown So if went with the schmelkes, what would you suggest for shaft, kielwood or maple, for what i am wanting?
I can only tell you to experiment. One size does not fit all.
Myself I like the REVO.... however a good piece of maple will serve you. I'm not familiar with kiel.

gold, you have given alot of good advise , so maple shaft or kiel wood for what i look for for all in one, and yes i know if i need well hard hitting break, grab the house cue :) till i get a break one i like
