this is less about the skill - but more just having a record of great players that have impacted the game. I think removing the tiers could be wise because that will always be up for interpretation. I envision the final product of this book as a coffee table book with pictures and descriptions...
I am trying to assemble a listing of all the greatest American players ever. I want a full record of all the great Americans who have contributed to our great sport. I am trying to capture those who won tournaments and money matches, as well as the legendary road players who may not have titles...
I think the drawing you did was very accurate. I think the one detail we can all agree on unanimously - the man harold worst had a legendary and powerful stroke :)
haha - he doesnt have a diagram in the book or add context on how it was done. Just says he witnessed it! The link gar shared has some potential diagrams of the shot.
Gar - I am pretty poisitive it is. Banking with the beard is the only beard book I own and it is what prompted me to research this. Will confirm though when I am back home.
found a text version in the meantime from the Book - he actually says 7, not 6, pretty insane!! "U.J. Puckett had for years dazzled the crowd with his specialty shot, a five rail draw with the cue ball at least five diamonds away from the object ball ... Harold Worst watched Puck do the shot and...
Thank you for finding this. I thought he mentioned 6 in the book, not 7. This is the forum I mentioned where this is is disagreement over what was said by the Beard. I will post the book excerpt in a few days.
Wow! that man has a STROKE. he basically went 5 here a few times and he is playing from the END RAIL. Looks like he could easily do 6, maybe 7, if he set the shot up right.....
I was recently reading Freddy the Beards Book - Banking with the beard - and he recalls a specific story where he witnessed Harold Worst play a 7 rail draw shot at a tournament during an exhibition (I am currently visiting family and dont have a copy of the book with me but I will post a picture...
Title is pretty self explanatory - do any top players utilize this today? Reading on some of the older players - it appears that this is a lost art utilized by some of the legendary figures of this game - Conrbread red, alton whitlow, dallas west, etc.
I am struggling to find actual match...
I thought you were done here Gar?!?!? :)
There is a similar thread from others suggesting the same - that he should be in the HOF. They mentioned Danny D, Jose and Jimmy as being deserving. 2 of the 3 have gotten the nod...
