    Buying a Pool cue

I would suggest hitting with the cues first. :) There really is a significant difference between a wood joint and a steel joint feel. Find one you like the feel of and buy it.... and never sell it... it's your first... you can't sell your first!

Anyone using this newish Jump Cue

Yeah, 14mm is pretty stiff - I use that on my masse cue... but in the world of stiffness... still not so stiff - and it also totally depends on the tapper.. shorter the tapper.. the stiffer the shaft. I like the deflection for my masse shots. But you don't jump with a 14mm shaft - you masse...

Anyone using this newish Jump Cue

Yeah, Mark Dimick is the creator of the Dr. Popper.... which he is normally the ref. at all the televised trick shot events... probably was at the US vs Europe gig, so therefore so was his cue. Like I said, totally worth the investment. Mark's a great guy too... he was wicked nice at the Open.

Anyone using this newish Jump Cue

I shot in the 2007 Artistic Pool US Open this year... the guy who designed the Dr. Popper was there... and is also a pro trick shot artist... you've all seen him... not sure why his name isn't associated with it??? I'll have to ask... but the cue is a good one. What makes normal jump cues...

    intentional foul, kinda??

I don't think so..... there's this 45 degree rule.. you either have to be jacked up on the cue at least 45 degrees or on the ball (meaning you need to shoot away from the frozen ball) by 45 degrees or it's a push and all pushes are fouls. I could be wrong, but anyway.... back to the original...

    first break and run

That's great! Congrats! You won't forget the first! My first 9 & 8 came the same cool week in '92! How long have you been shooting for?

What kind of cue are you using?

    On my signature. ;)

    What is YOUR shot?

i'd set up a railroad shot so it looks like it'd be an easy shot and then add in the over, around & under. Have the cue ball resting on the railroad, shoot the OA&U with the nine, making the six & seven, have the nine bump the cue ball into motion and then the cue ball glances off the eight in...

9 ball - miscue on break question

As per BCA rules, if the requirements of the opening break are not met, it is a foul, and therefore BIH anywhere. So, the opening break is when the cue tip hits the cue ball, not when 4 balls are driven to a rail. Hope that clears things up.

9 ball - miscue on break question

Be careful however, lots of halls around me have 'rules' for the break... so you might want to cover that before the tournament or money game.

Is $100 right to see an Earl exhibition?

WOW. Just showmen? What a shame you don't do your research. You should check out some of our tournament records... I believe Massey has a pretty impressive 9 ball record. Also, we shoot trick shots not because we can't shoot pool, but rather we LOVE to be challanged with trick shots. I...
