Joshua Filler withdrawn from the Mosconi Cup!

Agree! I didn't like Novak Djokovic either, until later in his career when he was more gracious and humble. Who knows, maybe he never changed, just hired a publicist. I've been hoping Filler would become more likeable with age, my distaste for him just gets in the way.

    T rails vs flat rails

Chase the thread inserts. Most of my inserts had gunk in them, presumably the lead or whatever's used to seal them in. I couldn't get a clean thread-in on more than half of them, so could not get a clean feeling of torque - the bolts were really hanging up. No taps for pre-standards thread...

    Predator Cloth Feedback?

I had Gorina Basalt for two refelts, and now I've had 860 on for 8 months. I play daily. I can tell zero difference, both when new, or when worn in. About the same in burn marks too. My local hall now has Predator Arcadia. Plays a bit faster, a bit more squirrely when new, and marks more...

    Mosconi cup

Time for a shakeup. I still enjoy watching every year, but half-expecting a loss, just hope for some good action and entertainment. Even including all Americas, could Morra, Pagulayan, and even someone like Rojas from Chile make enough difference for our side? I can't see it being much...

Bought new H series McDermott, don't like the G-Core shaft, looking for input on i2 vs i3 replacement

I had an i2, briefly. I found it to be slightly more lively than a 314, which has always felt pretty dead to me. The i2 had about the same deflection as 314 (I guess). Nothing wrong with the i2 otherwise, just wasn't for me.

Could anyone ID this table from these pictures?

The t-rails and cabinet pieces look similar enough to Brunswick, but that corner piece definitely looks S-W. Good puzzle (y)

Brand of staples that don't break so much?

Thanks for the replies. Good info. It's a really old table - last thing I removed were tacks - most of the subrails were so chewed up. Except one, which looks like it might have been replaced at some point? Didn't even notice this, last time around. Seems even like tighter grain, so maybe...

Brand of staples that don't break so much?

I'm pulling staples from underside of subrails, and the staples are breaking like crazy. It's my own work, so I know it's the staples I used. Like these, but I bought them at Home Depot: https://www.staplersandstaples.com/Images/product/New Photos/Staples/Arrow/T503-8_additional_a.jpg Is...

    JJ ball cleaning foul

OT, but didn't warrant its own thread: read a couple posts here with this same opinion. I haven't seen this about him. Is there some incident, in a other tournaments where he was douchey? Or was it in interviews etc?

I Need Advice on Antique Table

I wasn't sure about doing finish before or after MOP inlays either. At the time I didn't know what kind of finish my rails would get. So I did a test run, on a different piece of wood. I tried oil varnish (Waterlox), and also Spar Urethane, I don't know how that compares to the Poly you're...

What kind of table is this

My mistake. Upon zooming the OP's photos, indeed that looks like plywood, and not the same grain as whatever veneer was used on 20th Century. Also, can see the slight elephant cut to the legs, which I had missed before. Agreed, looks like a Challenger whose paint was stripped, then the...

What kind of table is this

Can't seem to edit earlier post..? Early Challenger like my 1935 had exposed bolts/rosettes, later ones were hidden, like on the 20th Century (which my friend believed to be a 1940).

What kind of table is this

I believe what you have is a Brunswick 20th Century. The wood is veneered, whereas a Challenger has wrinkle paint. The Challenger has slightly elephant legs (<10* if I recall), the 20th century is straight, but with a rounded outer edge and some trim near the bottom. Looks to me like someone...

    California pool rooms?

I was told that at least in Santa Clara county, opening a new hall is particularly difficult because with respect to zoning, they are equivalent to opening a strip bar. So I guess that means, bar, and not amusement. Or maybe both? :D
