Here is a fix that I did awhile back. In retrospect, I should have taken a larger section of wood out. No machinery used other than a drill for the smaller hole. I used a bit brace for the larger one.
I have done similar repairs on some Olhausen rails where I have chopped out the area like I would a mortise. I chop a square section out of the poplar sub rail and cut a new fitting piece of poplar gluing and installing with the grain in the same direction. Then using a small #3 plane to get...
I Have a customer with an Olhausen table from 1993.
I was wanting to know what kind of cushions were installed on the rails. The cushions seem great but they are 20+ years old and if there is a chance they will go harder than a brick the customer wants them replaced. They are not the black...
It is an upgrade option as was to have the drake, sheraton, etc built with a solid wood or plywood cabinet instead of the particle board. You might be lucky although not many people don't this with those table models; for the same price they can get a model that already is priced at a veneer or...
I am not a fan because of the weight factor alone. It is a downside in weight in two ways. Not only does the slate weigh less, but the frame will weigh less because it doesn't need to be as heavy duty to support the lighter slate. Heavier slate requires a beefier frame.
What I am getting...
I think that Geneva is priced about 800 too much... If memory serves correctly, you are looking at 3/4 unbacked slate and particle board and plywood.
Usually an indicator to a cheap table are those metal or plastic corner pieces to cover up the edge of the aprons and the other piece that...
Hard to say without any pictures...
Could you have a New Orleans Cabinet/rails with something like tapered legs instead of the ramshead legs?
I think in the last 6 years or so, it should say on the cabinet and or underneath the rails the model number and size printed on a sticker. However you...
Do you have a picture of the coin mech you are missing? I run into some antique coin mechs quite a bit and if I run across the one you are missing I'll pick it up for you.
I'll be at the Texas Pinball Festival in March, where in years past there were tons of antique coin mechs / coin op parts.
You did the right thing in my opinion. We only do local jobs, and if some local guy wanted to watch us level and set up his table... with full intentions of copying and taking on work... no way in hell.
We've already been through similar situations with previous installers stealing work and...
Great collection, my hats off to you. If I run into any I'll give you a shout. Looks like you definitely appreciate them and they deserve to be in a good home like that.
Would you by chance have a gallery of your collection available for viewing?
I collect old coin op equipment, specifically pinball machines and these mini coinop pool tables look cool as hell! I may have to try and search out for them...
Thanks for your post.
I fit a 10' GC Snooker in a standard full size pickup bed no problem. That was with the frame assembled and legs and stretcher disassembled. You might run into trouble if you have the really short bed like on the half ton crew cabs though.
We've set up a few of them. They are very cheap tables.
The wood is a low quality import wood but I do say they put a good finish on it. The metal brackets on the frame are extremely weak and I am surprised they even hold up the cross-beams.
I don't see the pockets lasting as long as...
