    Panthera vs Jacoby

I was never a fan of predator butts. But recently I tried a friend's 4000+ Panthera and it’s a great cue for sure. It figures since it’s not actually made by Pred :) Are lower price Jacoby cues comparable in terms of construction, weight and balance? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Predator CONFIRMS revo 12.9 has LOWER deflection than 12.4 !!!

    1. Not all Predator shafts are identical and the same weight. A friend weighed a bunch and there was an 11g (0.4oz) spread. That particular shaft might be slightly lower deflection. 2. As a single layer tip, Triangle is less dense and lighter than a layered tip, bringing that endmass slightly...

Wood identification - orig owner said cocobolo but doesn't look right

It could be I guess, depending on the cut, or it could be rosewood maybe? However the third one being Gonçalo Alves is more puzzling, as that's a yellowish hue normally?

    Tall player issue

Respectfully, you are wrong. What the cue ball feels is the force. The force puts the stationary cue ball in motion, not the "speed" or "acceleration". You have increased the mass of the cue, and with the same stroke the force applied will be greater. You sometimes see professional players put...

    Tall player issue

No that comes from the added weight of the extension F=m*a. The weight of the extension can easily be 2oz. I'm not sure what you mean about it being angled. If it's broken get a new one. In any case 1-2° wouldn't make any difference. Fargo is not a range, if you have one you should know exactly...

    Tall player issue

Sounds to me like the issue is mostly in your head. An extension doesn't cause "loss of energy at impact" or "improper angle" or anything like that. A standard cue is fine even if you grip it at the very end and if you want to use a permanent extension, 2" or 4" are more than sufficient. Work on...

    tip trouble

I have never blamed the tip for my miscues. It is always the tip placement. What might happen is a softer tip deforms more at impact creating a bigger contact patch, so you are effectively hitting closer to the center of the ball than you might think, avoiding the miscue. A harder tip has a...

    BK Rush tip flaking

I agree I like the stock tip and I think it's a strong reason to choose this cue. I think a hard leather tip might be very nice too.

    Twine Specific for Cue Wrap

Interesting, I'd also say nylon was a novelty in that era and didn't have the same bad image as it does now.

    Twine Specific for Cue Wrap

Linen is traditional and has been used because it absorbs sweat. Silk is a bad idea because silk is not supposed to get wet. Nylon is normally only used on very cheap cues because of price/availability. No serious cue maker would use nylon.

    tip trouble

If the tip holds chalk, it's not the tip's fault. Hardness is not a factor, you shouldn't miscue even with a phenolic tip. I pay a lot of attention to equipment and noticed that I miscue more when switching shafts, and that is because of the change in balance. Your muscle memory can be thrown...

    BK Rush tip flaking

The very center of my BK Rush tip came off cleanly after a break. A quick search shows quite a few reports of that happening, and Predator even has an article that says it's normal and expected? Basically a feature LOL. What does everyone here think of that? Please no suggestions of replacing...
