That looks great Eric. I've always envied woodworkers who are out in the country and have huge lots with lots of trees to cut down and mill. I have a backyard that is smaller than my living room.
So it seems like it is heat that is causing the sap to ooze out. We have had over 40+ consecutive days of 90+ degree temps in my area and there's no end in sight and my woods are all in my garage. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I have a couple of purpleheart coring dowels that i last turned about 6 months ago. I noticed that a couple of dowels, there is sap coming out of the wood grain. What does this mean? Is the wood not dry enough? I am curious.
Thanks.
The saw comes with carbide blade and it is able to cut materials like wood, plastic, aluminum and even brass. I saw a youtube video of this guy cutting 1 inch solid aluminum square and also brass using the standard blade and he says it cuts smoother than a metal bandsaw.
I am going to get that...
Does.anyone here use a mini cutoff tool for cuemaking? I saw a Proxxon KGS 80 mini miter saw for sale. It is a good deal and I can use it to cut metal pins or wood dowels for cues. I am sure it is better than my crappy harbor freight mini cut off saw that struggles to cut softwood dowels.
I just tried my makita track saw yesterday and it did a very smooth crosscut on cheap plywood and the dust collection is near perfect... circular saw just can't compare to this awesome tool... it is my new favorite tool!
One of the reasons I purchased a tracksaw was because they have great dust collection. I cannot afford a Festool yet but it's the brand that I want... maybe in the future when I am a famous and successful cuemaker.
I've read that track saws are widely used in Europe. I saw a video...
Thanks for the tip... very helpful. I will difinitely get a diablo blade.
My next project is a small workbench that can double as an outfeed table. I plan to put my planer underneath with the sides covered with soundproofing to minimize the noise. Hopefully it helps. I even plan on wrapping the...
I realized that I cannot afford the SawStop table saw - or any of the cabinet saws for that matter so I decided to go for a portable saw - Dewalt DWE7491RS. I was looking for a decent saw that can use dado blades . It is also smaller than a cabinet saw which is more important to me because I...
So last week, I had the flu. I was bedridden and all I could do was watch woodworking videos on youtube. It is so cool looking at these guys do mortise and tenon and all the other stuff that they do. I've been watching videos from thewoodwhisperer and Jay Bates channel. Jay Bates used to do cue...
