EYE PATTERN “Best Practices” … Cue Ball or Object Ball Focus Last?

I gave CBL a college try and it’s just strange. OBL for-life here. And whenever my mechanics seem to go awry, nothing makes them sharpen up than a conscious effort on eye pattern and focusing on the OBL. The only times CBL makes sense to me is massé/jumping but those will not be in my...

Old Matches - How important is commentary?

Modern commentary might work if the commentators had some close connection to the match, tournament and/or players. Otherwise I agree with Fatboy. Scoring graphics would be welcomed.

Old Matches - How important is commentary?

Commentary not important if there’s existing ambient background sounds. If the tracks are completely silent then dubbed over commentary would be good.

2025 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

Please put me down for a break and run of 15 today. Will this be the year I break 16? Do not know. GC5 TE Fargo unknown

    Gold Crown 7 Revealed

Where is the time going, it seems like the 5 and 6 just came out. The 7 looks good, much more appealing than the 6. Unsure about removing the ball box in lieu of those metal grill racks though. Time will tell how robust they are.

    Sharking

‘Sharking’ is just another word for unsportsmanlike conduct and unprofessional behavior. Respect your opponent’s time at the table. The profressionals understand this.

Tight 4.5 Inch Pockets Vs Loose 4.5 Inch Pockets

You guys make me wish I got a classic GC with 5” instead of the 4.5” pro cut that came with the GCV TE. Anything less than pro cut 4.5” seems masochistic no matter the game. The 4.5s helped tighten up my game, but sometimes it would be nice to just loosen up and runs some balls without my ass...

    Chalk Talk...

Maybe shoes, gloves and towels. Funny that pool players have been known to obsess over these things too. Pool is totally mental. It’s the hobby for tinkerers.

    toam blue vs green

I simply cannot resist replying to chalk threads. I used Pyro (blue) on green Simonis 860. Any chalk marks were faint. V10 on same cloth, barely noticable. Cleans easily with Simonis X1 (another controversial product) and my cloth has never seen a drop of water or soap in nearly 6 years of...

Pool jerseys are bad, but also not good

Bowling shirts likely started for team leagues back in the day. Loose fitting, short sleeved, untucked, but still looked tidy. All were positives for practicality and appearance. And they promoted team pride. Pool jerseys for individual players should be left to the pros in pro tournaments...

    Sardo rack.

Only cool thing about the Sardo rack relates to a t-shirt my wife got me. She had no idea what the image was and neither did I until finding it was the Sardo rack blueprint patent diagram. I get more comments from passerbys on that shirt than any other. I find noise issues with Delta racks...

How many of you steal chalk from the pool hall?

Two of me don’t take pool room chalk. The majority are usually drilled clean through with an auger. The third me used to show early scrounging for the best pieces and hoarded them. But I would never ever keep them. This personality found a Pyro lying around like it was part of an easter egg...

    Rip Danny Diliberto

There are some great photos of Danny on the web spanning his life. Wish I could have met him. He will be missed.

Measle ball is a training ball

My ability to see whether a measles ball is spinng or sliding after contact from 50 feet away or on a telecast is marginal. At best. From 2 feet away? Yes.

    Non-Gambling Pool Players

Wagering with your freinds or a group of known regulars, fine. Playng for money (or anything for that matter) with some rando in a bar is an incredibly bad idea in my book. Truly a risk filled recipe for disaster. Even if you’re the better player you’re going to lose money anway appeasing...
