150 BALLS RUN Irving Crane vs Joseph Balsis 1966

No doubt the likes of Crane, Balsis, Mosconi, etc could clean up no matter the equipment. It’s not so much the large size of the pockets on these old GCs, but the number of available shots beacuse of the open pocket lanes that make working through congestion/clusters easier. Still, you have to...

    Gold Crown 7 Revealed

I prefer the black or brown over the white. The white apron gives it good contrast. White frame/rails are ok for home use, but the blue cloth looks like the circus has come to town. I saw gray cloth on a white Diamond the other day and that’s even worse. Whatever the tan/beige cloth color...

Vintage Photo from 1983 Dayton Open

Also looks like George Lucas took a break from filming ‘American Graffiti’ and sat in the back row.

    Gold Crown 7 Revealed

Never played on a table with steel frame that I’m aware. Wonder how the 7 frame would differ compared to the previous GC gens with wood.

Dynaspheres Tungsten 572 Pool Ball Set

These pics of balls inside of balls doesn’t give me a warm/fuzzy feeling about lesser priced sets, especially the one that appears to contain an Aramith Superpro 6 ball. Wonder how many purple 5 and 13’s we’ll find someday lurking under Aramith Premier sets.

    How Long Between Ball Polishing?

Best approximation: After no less than 4 hours and no more than 8 hours of use. Or when they start to show scuff marks and/or appear cloudy.

20 Photos of Pool Halls and Billiard Rooms From a Bygone Era

Aramith Duramith balls getting dirty quicker than others?

There’s a thread somewhere discussing possible causes for those perfectly round grey spots. The dark OB spots are probably something from the table. The CB dark spots looks like possible miscues. Would be interesting to know the age of this set and if they were stored away in a box for an...

    I have it, Do you?

Way too many ball sets. Bought various brands and tiers only to confirm my original idea that best are still the best. Novelty balls. Why. I’ve got a half dozen tip tools and could pare that down to 2. Finally found a glove that works after trying 4. Cues are manageable level, but didn’t...

Things I Don't Understand at the Pool Room

This. But you shouldn’t have to tip. It’s common sense to spread out the customers and backfill as people come in. But let’s face it, Americans need their entitlement to personal space and that’s not changing anytime soon.

Smaller Pockets Don’t Always Play Smaller … Dr. Dave Evaluates His New Rails and Pockets

Understood, no doubt. 😊 Guess I’m saying If I showed up blindly encountering the old configuration I would have thought the pockets would play large solely based on the looks. I don’t go around with calipers and the TDF thread before I play on unknown tables, but I guess there’s a first time...

Smaller Pockets Don’t Always Play Smaller … Dr. Dave Evaluates His New Rails and Pockets

Great to see this transformation. I was surprised the old rails/pocket setup was actually tougher. No doubt the old pockets appear more inviting and comfortable. I suppose it all comes dowm to perception. I feel that pockets shouldn’t tighten much if balls and cloth are kept religiously...
