Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

It seems a bad idea (to me) to have time limits and games not based on time, and handicaps based on time, all at the same time. I would certainly expect a league rule in such a situation making sure games go quickly. You are, of course, still welcome to break up that cluster yourself. Still...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

It is hardly surprising that you don't know any players that the rules so discriminate against, that it would be impossible for them to play. As Dr Dave reminds us here, the rules are the rules, not just for leagues. Thank you kindly.

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

That is a pretty big strawman you are toting there. Expected better from you. Is it too hard to imagine how you would do playing pool from a wheelchair, or if you were shorter than the table itself. Thank you kindly.

Has the quality difference between "custom" and "production" become negligible?

The small business. I have a limited number of the best quality of whatever I make. Putting the best 100 (plus 9900 lesser quality) in the 10,000 order, makes me look bad, doesn't help the big manufacturer and is, if noticed, only going to be a negative. The small business will notice the...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Then it is working. If you are expecting better odds making than can be achieved through statistics you need to be fixing games. For any data set, one can determine which variables affect the results significantly, and which don't. Once you know that, more data is more impactful than more...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Since you brought it up... "not driving 4 balls to rails on a break shot." YES. This is hard to adjudicate, discriminates against people who might not be able to generate that amount of force, risks injuring the equipment, and adds no fairness to the game. If the rules for a particular game...

LED panel lights for 7,8,9,10 ft pool and billiard tables

Please don't say this. It is physically impossible, and thus casts doubt on your other statements. Thank you kindly.

    $2000 Bank Bend Challenge

Not sure why DrDave thinks people will be able to set up 6 balls, when they can't even read.

    Vegas BCAPL 2016, fargorate problems

I don't see how it could be. I don't think FargoRates starts anyone off that low. 425 may be the lowest. The one I found was 128, with a starter rating of 525, and a robustness of 124. Thank you kindly.

    Cyclop Balls and Cloth Wear

Seems unlikely. If one looks at slow motion videos, one will see a lot of chalk coming off the tip at impact. In order for a cleaner ball to result from chalk not leaving the tip, the cohesion of the chalk to itself would need to be stronger than the force from friction AND from deceleration...

    FargoRate

Get that Elephant to ND! It looks to me like FargoRate uses every bit of data they have, if you think that they don't have some data; get it to them. Thank you kindly.

    Vegas BCAPL 2016, fargorate problems

No, it shows that the starter rating for the TOP 5 players in his league are too low. Well, duh. Thank you kindly.

    Cyclop Balls and Cloth Wear

Where do you think all that chalk goes? If it is not on the cue ball, the only other place is the cloth. It could well be that that is better for the life of the cloth, (especially if you clean your cloth often) but they can't both be cleaner. Thank you kindly.
