Pre-1975, Pre-Production, Very Fancy McDermott Cue

Chopdoc, I concur with your sentiments. That cue is awesome, but it resembles a Viking much more than it does a McDermott, in my opinion. It looks like something Gordon dreamed up in his basement in Madison. Also, boy o boy do I wish I still had the 3 pointed Viking and the Palmer deluxe case...

Pre-1975, Pre-Production, Very Fancy McDermott Cue

I am very convinced that is a Viking cue. It appears to have the "super joint" that Viking claimed was unique to its cues. Also, the joint breaks down in two sections, which was common to many Vikings back then but, to my knowledge, not McDermotts. Finally and perhaps common to WICO blanks, that...

3 Tim Scruggs Catalogs F/S Super Rare

I also have all of those same photos and brochures in a night stand in one of my guest bedrooms. I even own cue no. 5 (with the maple windows and mother of pearl diamonds) in the right hand photo. And, yep, I only paid $240 for it in 1980. I was a broke college student and could only afford 1...

Most dominant cash Nine ball player of any era?

Thanks, Ironman. You are not butting in, at all. I appreciate your candid thoughts, especially since they are empirically based on first hand observation. I obviously know that they played two different kinds of games. Greg would get out of line on occasion, but fire at a ball if he could see...

Most dominant cash Nine ball player of any era?

Jay, I have a question for you that seems consistent with this thread. I was in Olathe last weekend for the tournament and thought about asking David Matlock this question. I am an old pool player (age 50) that grew up in Wichita and sweated most of the big action that came through town and...

    Davenport- US Open

I am not sure how well known it is, but Kim Davenport originally hails from McAlester, Oklahoma which is a relatively small city in the southeastern part of that state. Many other great players have either come from or still reside in Oklahoma, IMHO.

Whatever stick he plays with, he still carries it in an old lizard skinned tube case that is either a Fellini or a George. Most likely the latter, if I had to render an educated guess.

    old pool players

I actually saw "Don M." and talked to him at the Olathe tournament a couple of weeks ago. He still hits em pretty sporty, even though his hair is is silver now, like mine! Well, I think I will take my whooping five (5) posts in the last 2 1/2 years, and officially revert back to "lurker" status...

    old pool players

Hey, Jay! I think that Don's last name is actually spelled "McCaughey",but is phonetically pronounced as McCoy. Not that it matters much, other than for the sake of personal accuracy.

Top five 9Ball Players of all time?

That is the quintessential post on Lassiter, by Terry! Well composed and articulated! Very hard to argue with those facts and Terry's stated logic! FWIW, I concur.

    Attorneys that play pool

Greetings to All: I am a practicing attorney in Topeka, Kansas, specializing in business law. I very recently became an AZ'er, but have been perusing the forums for quite some time. This is my first post. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and began playing nine ball there in the late 1970's. I am...
