Custom Pool cue makers from China?

Yeah, this happened with Mezz only over the past 5 years or so too. Quality was always equal or above even most custom cues, but they were very affordable and plentiful. Now, we seem to have a version of cue inflation going on. Everywhere. In 2020 even a Carmeli base model you could get easily...

What is your eye pattern when down on a shot before striking cue ball?

Thanks Bob - I really appreciate the reply and further insights. Yes, I was thinking about it after I made this statement, and realized that you can certainly become consistent with where you are striking the cue ball once your stroke and mechanics are consistent, without actually watching the...

What is your eye pattern when down on a shot before striking cue ball?

I do think though that this technique I learned, was based on the 'Parallel English' stroke. Speed (power) became the ultimate factor since it determined so much of what happened in the shot.

What is your eye pattern when down on a shot before striking cue ball?

I was taught, when actually shooting the shot, to look at where I am striking the cueball, to see the tip hit the cueball. I mean, if you don't, then how do you know where you struck it? The object ball isn't moving, so once you have aimed why look at it again really? If you are referencing it...

Tips being installed angled inward slightly on the outside diameter

Thanks for the replies and info folks, really appreciate it. Yeah, I think this repair person is pretty good really. He has done maybe 5-6 tips for me in the past year, but I only noticed a visible angle on the side once before this. It was a super hard, tall, Water Buffalo tip, and on a cue...

Tips being installed angled inward slightly on the outside diameter

In other words, the sides of the tip I just had installed by a local guy are not exactly straight, angled slightly inwards. This bothers me... should the outside diameter not be perfectly straight like the ferrule? The angle is very slight, but if I use plastic ruler and hold it against the...

Are the tips of the pockets not considered like a rail?

I watched a match recently where Roberto Gomez hit the cue ball into the object ball, and drove it slowly into both the corner pocket tips, attempting to bury the cueball behind another ball. The object ball bounced between the corner pocket tips then back out onto the table a little ways. Then...

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

Simply put, in old school billiards speak "Running English" is used to make the cue ball in a multi-rail bank run true. But it appears it has other meanings and uses as as well. But, you guys know lots more than me, so please continue...

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

Well, as I was taught in 3 cushion (at age 9, so memory for a long time ago), I thought it was to get a 'true' angle with the cue ball off the 1st rail after it is hit, rather than the angle being flattened out somewhat, due to... eh... something, something... some pool thing I cannot remember...

A simple answer to the APA/BCA Amateur League dilemma

Yeah, action is fun. We just don't have that here I guess really. I live in a weird area... but, there are a couple of halls I haven't frequented yet so, maybe there. Problem is they are both a 30-40 (freeway) drive to get to for me. But, I am just getting started really, so no biggie. Naw, I...
