    Aiming systems: Why the problems?

Personally, any initial interest I would have in someone's aiming system is whether or not the system is valid. Shouldn't that be obvious? If someone gave you a....roulette system, and the system was: keep betting red until you win...well; it would be pretty easy to mathematically prove it...

aiming systems r like a weight loss plan

If aiming systems are like weight loss plans then CTE is like the famous "see-food" diet: I see it; I eat it. With CTE, you can line up totally DIFFERENT shots exactly the SAME way, and BANG, in the pocket, dead-center, they go (unless you're banking, in which case BOING-BANG, in the pocket...

    Center to where...Pro what..

Gotta appreciate that candor. It's very clear you're a major "CTE" advocate. I appreciate the honesty and objectivity.

    Pro One

I've received my DVD too. Thanks Stan. But I haven't gotten around to watching it, and it will probably be awhile (but I do plan to write up a clear and detailed review). Meanwhile..... Funny how things never change. JoeyA's comments (I added the numbers) are similar to ALL the comments in...

This is just ridiculous....in the best way possible.

Fantastic! Nice to see such creativity and originality.

Dream or Nightmare: Your Next Match Has Just Been Called for the Accu-Stats Table

Taken exactly as you staged it: it's no problem at all. If you're SUPPOSED to lose, then you could hope to play your game and at least show you've got some stuff. I think it would be much worse for the "stone-cold champion" who, on a fluke, might get whipped by a nobody. One of my favorite...

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

I'm pretty sure it's an outgrowth of Mike Gulyassy's "Earl's new cue" thread. He was saying in that thread that he'd be willing to back Earl with his new cue, etc.

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

I absolutely agree. I think there are MANY people who agree that the people who win the big tournaments are not always UNQUESTIONABLY the absolute best players. I think the truth is that the winner of most tournaments (especially in 9-ball) is likely to be any arbitrary one of at least 6-7...

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

And you're right. And they're right. They all can play "perfectly" for somewhat extended periods. Matches these days are won by the guy who ends up playing "perfectly" at the right time, or playing "perfectly" for longer than another guy, or getting a couple of good rolls when they could have...

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

That's right. But it's still "trying to get an advantage." If Earl is dead even odds against another player on a 9' table, but has odds to win on a 10' table, if doesn't actually make Earl a "better" player--because all relevant play today IS on 9' tables. Earl's case is "well, if we could be...

Danny D is doing a bit better

That's great to hear! Thanks for updating us. Stay active Danny, and you can recover 98% of where you were before the stroke!

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

What? What POSSIBLE reason could it be, other than to "give him an advantage?" Earl thinks he's a better shot maker, and he thinks a ten foot table will emphasize that difference--and thereby give him an advantage.

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

So Earl doesn't have a table at home (maybe a 10 footer?)? Hmmm, then maybe this is just one of those nutty, Earl ideas. Someone who had really put in their dues on a 10 footer could hand some surprises to someone who hadn't. The first time I played on one, after having played on 9 footers--it...

Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

    1) If SVB accepted the big table and tight shot clock without really thinking about them--then he could get a surprise. If Earl is practicing all the time on the big table, and SVB isn't--it could get very unpleasant for SVB. 2) OTOH, the real premise of this match is: Will Earl finally getting...

A Brief History of the Modern Era of pro pool

Nice overview. If you're preparing this for a book (as an intro, perhaps), it would be nice if you included a paragraph about the rise in custom cue makers, as well.
