I always used my playing cue to break, from southwest to cuetec, never had a tip mushroom (I do my own tips and press them except my current Tiger Onyx, which hasnt mushroomed either) or otherwise damaged and shape it maybe once every three months...I break at full speed, none of that soft sissy...
