I do think that professional level specs should play a part in what equipment is used, but at the end of the day it’s really up to you. Baseball moved the mound, but not for little league. NBA moved the 3 point line but not for college. You can play on whatever you think suits you best that’s...
This wasn’t directed at me but I echo the sentiment of who it was directed at so I’ll field it. This what pros play on standard these days. I’m not delusional I know I’m a big dog to the ghost on this equipment, but if I can win playing my A game that’s what I want to strive for. Do you want to...
Doesn’t necessarily make the game more difficult it just changes it. It makes pocketing more difficult. It makes taking balls out easier. It makes playing safe up table easier. It makes scratching less frequent. Etc
I’m just trying to make a point that a lot of rooms here have 4” pockets and plenty of patronage and action. I live here and frequent the rooms. Not sure why people are trying to argue with me. Don’t care anymore ✌🏼
Hob most certainly had 4” pockets even 3 7/8 on some tables. Hardtimes FAMOUSLY had 4” pockets on the tournament side. Other popular action rooms here with 4” pockets are aloha billiards in Buena Park (big action here people playing 2-10k sets daily), libertad in Santa Monica (one pocket room...
Ok lol. So instead of a simple “wow I didn’t know that maybe I was wrong!” we’re going for a “I’m right and you’re a liar even though I’ve never been there”. You can live in your world and I’ll live in mine buddy. Next time you visit beautiful sunny Southern California, stop into a pool hall and...
Yup. I learned the game playing rich, Wayne, magdy, and Phil. So much knowledge in that room. Limo Bob barely played by the time I came around like 12 years ago but he was fun to sit on the rail with and listen to him talk about how everybody was shooting the wrong shot lol
4” flat is my preference. Been playing the game on that size pocket ever since I learned at Santa Monica house of billiards many moons ago. My local pool hall now “the cue ball” in Alhambra has 7 diamonds with 4” pockets. They play exceptionally. Hit the hole or get out lol
Dr Dave = great scientific information about the physics of the game and equipment… that will completely fuck up your game if you start thinking about it. Jk Dave you’re great. Just don’t review my shaft I don’t wanna know lol
The only fair way to do it is lag for the break, race to 2 or 3, no loser side (or maybe 2 winners side 1 losers side). I love one pocket but the tournaments are brutal. It’s not a tournament game. I like bobs chess clock idea but what you gain in time you’re gonna lose with people arguing over...
I’m in Southern California. And I’m guessing the pool rooms are barren not for lack of players but because you could probably draw a straight diverging line since the 40s with pool room popularity and income inequality. Lots of raging action spots here in SoCal tho. Here’s a pretty regular scene...
