The room we play out of replaces the spots before every tournament so about once a month. We have not used the magic racks, just the Diamond Rack that have come with the tables. One thought I have had is to rack the 9 or 10 ball on the spot, have you played in a tournament with this option...

I do my best to get at least 30% of the field paid, even if the bottom get the entry fee back. It depends on the add in and how many players show up. The last tournament I did we had 64 players and I pad the top 16. Entry fee was 75 ,16th got back $105.00

Did the players like the one loss side on the Bar Boxes?

I have had to put players on a shot clock in tournaments before. We usually don't until we see the match getting longer or holding things up. This is something I would be wiling to try from the get go though. Thanks!

I agree, I like playing winner break. If someone runs the set out they deserve it! I am an average player, so alternate break does help the field size from the tournaments I have run, it also helps get some of the local APA/BCA players involved in the tournaments.

I have run tournaments with 32 + in a weekend. Actually it was ran in a day! We did not get don't until 6AM the next morning (so technically it was 2 days). No more of that I will bring back the top 16 or so for the next day. I have never done the single elimination with multiple sets...

I agree! If the person running the Calcutta is good at selling then it should make money. the average Calcutta we raise is about 2500-300 about 50-64 players in our room.

When you say 6 to 8 teams, do you mean a team event, like teams of 3 players?
