As an archaeologist, I need to remove things written with a sharpie from various surfaces all the time. Sharpie ink is only soluble in alcohol; acetone or petroleum distillates like plant thinner won't work. Denatured alcohol is probably the best solvent for the job!

I’m in the market for a playable Paul Dayton cue. I found one that the current owner says was purchased new from Paul in 2015. The look, joint, collar work and butt all seem right, but the cue is not signed. Is it possible that Paul made this cue but didn’t sign it?
