Interesting that you bring it up since black holes are the one and only place that CTE, sans feel, actually works! (Everything heads for "center pocket," subconscious adjustments or not.) ...and, true to form, no sensible description has ever been forthcoming from anyone who's made the trip. Jim

I'm sure you have numerous examples of the nonsense Dr. Dave has been feeding us. Of course, it does go without saying that there are insights you can only learn from a pro, such as: - There is no such thing as throw. - A touch of inside english increases your margin of error. - A handful of...

Rick, That's one of the myths in which a good piece of paper and a sharp pencil can be employed for the purpose of debunking. The spin induced throw that allows you to make a fuller hit and therefore, putatively, reduces the CB's post-impact velocity because of the fuller hit, withdraws the...

Rick, I agree with the instances you've laid out here. But in the second set (centerball hit) you would be aiming (aligning) for center pocket, not for just inside the pocket point. Thus the miss, if the same magnitude as in the first set, would send the OB to either side of center pocket, but...

Rick, I think you've expressed our "skeptics" view very well in several of your posts. Obviously, it's flown over their heads, as always, and made you the devil incarnate in their eyes. Yet, amidst all the vitriol, you've managed to maintain an extraordinary level of patience and civility. I...

It means thinking about something in a novel way, as in breaking a pattern. An example would be if Spiderweb thought of something to contribute other than ad hominem ranting, or Stan realizing that his 'visual intelligence' was just past experience creeping in through the backdoor. Jim

Sure, Stan. You weren't suggesting Lou receive a little facial in the process, were you? Nah. ...wondering in what county the moderators have drawn the line for the CTE group. Jim

What are you suggesting by the quotes around 'meeting,' Stan? If and when you answer, don't forget: Jim

English makes some obvious points, sans insults, sans name calling. Then: How about a few more illuminating posts on the inner workings of CTE: You guys are doing a most admirable job of ushering in this new era of kinder and gentler CTE discussion. All of us in the critic's group...

And I guess we have to add this:

English makes some obvious points, sans insults, sans name calling. Then: And so it goes... Jim

Very interesting and potentially useful. Just a few days ago (in the Chicago area) the PBS science program Nova was about memory, of which re-consolidation was a major theme. However, the emphasis was on how memories are vulnerable to distortion during this process. Here is a link if you or...

Well, I certainly hope the CTE advocates will never accept the word of someone who hasn't actually worked with the system! - that being their main argument against the critics. Notice also that Mr. Schmidt and his friend have said nothing that the critics, for the most part, haven't...

First, thanks for the kind words earlier. I think this has been addressed (i.e., for typical bridge lengths the bridge has zero to negligible effect on squirt). A very short bridge (i.e., a few inches) can probably affect (increase) squirt, especially if the shaft lays against a boney part of a...

Thank you for the kind words, jsp, but it's me that's impressed with your memory. Wow! I hope you reconsider. I think most if not all of us welcome your help and input. (For instance, your suggestion/assertion that less force is required...). Jim
