I could have missed something I suppose, but I don't remember seeing anything I just had to have or was an outstanding deal. Last time I remember seeing big sales was Labor Day in 2023. I got a 3x5 Predator bag for like half off. I wish I would have bought several.
The simple answer is I find some hidden gems on eBay. I also buy weird old cues that could be turn into something else. For instance. the last cue I bought was a house cue with butterflies. I paid ~$40. I'm going to have that made into a custom similar to a Titleist conversion.
I haven't seen that cue but based on his price and cues he's had listed in the past, he thinks it's decent. I'd say you could probably offer him like $150 - 175 and I believe he'd probably take it.
At one point, he had both 4 and 6 point versions of that cue but the others had the porcupine...
If that's the guy on FB Marketplace around Austin, he apparently bought some of the Porcupines and some labeled Ken Lane from Lane's son. He's OK to deal with. I've sold him a few cues.
Hell, I'd buy the lathe if it was cheap or the plans. I'd prefer the plans.
I suppose I could design one too, but who has the time? By this I mean that I would probably just spend the money and get a cue lathe.
Price and specs on 2 and 6, please.
As a side note: I'd suggest editing your post to put prices and specs in the ad. Some folks won't bother otherwise.
That pin is odd, for sure. It could possibly be just a weird 3/8x10 on one of the imports. That said, you can custom order any of the production McDermotts with a radial or uniloc pin: https://www.mcdermottcue.com/mcdermott_custom_build_cue.php
