    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

I don't thinks pigs are going to fly. So yeah, SVB will be on Team Mosconi (-: The real question is, who besides SVB and Gorst? Sky, Oscar or Billie would have to get very far in Peri/Hanoi to pass Styer. Team World is more interesting. I personally would be happy to see someone other than...

    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

I am speculating, of course. The date for the Hanoi Open was announced last year, if I recall correctly. It was the first announced event of 2025, way before any other. And it was announced well before the WPA finalized the date for the WPA 8-ball tournament. WNT bylaws seem to suggest there...

    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

SVB has professed his love for 8-ball, and it is a "world" title. Prolly helps him with future invites to the WPA World 10 ball events, too. Plus the field is more limited and he has an great chance to finish first/second. Prize money just as good for second in the 8-ball tourney as it would be...

    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

This is really the only major date clash this year. I guess that is the good news. The WPA is holding the World 10-ball tourney in late September in Vietnam, but it takes place before the Peri Open and Hanoi Open. Some players will be able to play in all three with limited travel. I would...

    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

WNT promos above show SVB participating in the Hanoi and Philippines opens, but he is skipping Hanoi to play in the WPA World 8-ball tourney. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16tJbpexaX/ Latest WPA 8-ball promo shows Filler and SVB participating, but no other men's players of note. There...

SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

I heard the interview. The way it sounded to me, Fedor was implying that SVB’s ability to block out the noise made him less susceptible to high pressure when crowds are large and loud. It also allows him to filter out distractions. That is clearly an advantage for Shane. How much? Impossible to...

Fedor Gorst on the Joe Rogan podcast today

Oh, he sure does, sjm. Rogan was just being provocative about Gorst being the greatest ever. So I won’t bother to explain his, ah, reasoning. He later said he thought SVB was probably the greatest ever. The guy is a total pool nerd. It was obvious he watched the WPC, Florida Open and U.S. Open...

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

Not sure who brought up Nashville, but nice city. Just came back from a three-day stay. Had to go outside the city to find a pool hall that opened on the earlier side, though. The two mainstays don’t open till 4. I wonder if there is a big pool culture. Definitely a fair amount of APA, but a...

Gotcha. Just hope MR starts publishing the full sked well in advance!

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

Your perception of the Tidewater area - close relatives of mine live there - and my perception are decidedly different. Nice area, but out of the way. So, no contradiction. Your view of MR/WNT - a view lacking any support whatsoever - is so far from my own that I will refrain from further comment.

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

Sorry, crazy idea. MR has trouble enough pinning down spots and getting its annual schedule determined early and communicated to players and fans. Doing something like this would make a bad problem worse. What MR needs is a permanent site for most big opens. The WPC could be the the tourney...

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

Orlando is a big city now. Plenty of things to do, as is the case with any large city. That said, if I were to travel to a big tournament as a fan, the assumption is I would be attending and watching the event every day. Then I would go out to dinner and start all over again the next day. I...

    What killed the slip stroke?

Johann Chua uses a slip stroke on longer draw shots. He did a video demonstration several years ago. Ive tried to do it, but not very successfully.

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

It’s not going back to Vegas. Never heard Frazer say much good about it. Keep in mind the Battle of the Bull could become a way station from the Florida Open to the U.S. Open. That’s what happened this year and it worked well.
