SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

Chua won the event and $50K.

    The long decline of ESPN

I don't need to watch this vid to know what went wrong. ESPN stopped televising pool! 😎 🎱

SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

I doubt it. Very few players appear to have any real insight into what WNT does. Matchroom keeps things buttoned up. The event is also too small for Matchroom to care. Scheduling big events like the UK Open is a tough task. In the case, small events like this will have to adjust. Global pool...

    World Pool Masters 2027 rankings

Last year the China World Games drew some of the top European pros at the same time the Florida Open was being played. Filler, Woj, Maciol and Szolnoki among them. There does not appear to be a conflict this year. WPA calendar doesn't have any other big competing men's events taking place. It...

    World Pool Masters 2027 rankings

Matchroom put out its first list of rankings for the return of the World Pool Masters in 2027 in Taipei. Clearly MR is using the WPM to entice more top pros to play in its events and to continue to play in its events. Reaction to the WPA/Predator? Perhaps, but if so, good. Competition at work...

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

They probably would if I had some electrical work done and paid for. Dont want to do that, at least not yet, until I decide if a major basement reno is in the cards.

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

I don't have a direct light over my table. Three lights scattered around the table, I've tried different bulbs, pointed the lights in different directions and fiddled with the dimmer settings. Not ideal, and it's not practicable to install better lighting unless I renovate my basement.

SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

Feijin was uncharacteristically error prone in the first half of his match vs Josh. Basically gave two games away and scratched on one break. In a FB post, he said he was jumpy. He said he thinks it was because of a lack of exercise. He was cooped up during the event, up later than usual and...

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

Nice photo, but on my table, at night, I can't always tell the 2, 4 and 8 apart. Part of the problem is my lighting, but it hasn't been something I've been able to solve.

SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

WNT used the same cloth at the European Open and I didn't notice anything different. At the UK Open, however, I saw a number of balls rattle around a pocket and then drop. It happened much more than usual. A lot of times these balls would get hung up. I suspect the unusually hot weather might...

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

The Predator balls, supposedly made by Aramith, stay cleaner than Aramith balls. The logo makes it slightly harder to identify balls, but the color scheme is the best among my four sets of balls. I use them more than any other.

I find Predator PBS events to be considerably better product for fans than WNT events

You might be right, but more people used to watch pool in the US and viewership in some places overseas seems to be pretty good. In any case, I am happy to subscribe to WNT TV and Billiards Digest. Doesn't cost me much to support the game.

SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

I would be curious to know how sjm rates Filler's performance in the UK Open final. Might be the best I've ever seen from him in a big WNT or Predator event in the final stages of a tourney. His two matches on the final day were dominating. I thought it was a great event.

I find Predator PBS events to be considerably better product for fans than WNT events

I don't know the details either, but I work under the assumption that if something was easy, it would have been done by now. Not true in government and not always true in the private sector, but for-profit companies tend to find a way. Seems to me MR concluded this wasn't a viable option. Lack...

SJM Trip Report: 2026 WNT UK Open a Big Hit

I am not sure Khalid is better than Appleton, and in any case, Fedor should have beaten him. Fedor was also up 9-4 vs Capito in a race to 10. Fedor is the reason Fedor lost. Arriving late is on him. Still, I am surprised Filler won't agree to a head to head with Fedor in 10 ball.
