RED BULL as a sponsor for pool Ok, JoeyA, I think you have stumped us on how Red Bull could profit from pool. Give us your ideas. (no offense, but I don't see Red Bull associating with pool, golf, bowling, or similar sports.)

And, not sure about what kind of balls, they just looked like pool balls to me (in good shape, not chipped or old looking). I am not knowledgeable enough to know if they were aramith, or something else. It was my cue all along, and finally, my chalk (which happened to be Master).

Took awhile before I could test it. The problem was that I could draw the cue ball reasonably well on my pool table, and at our local pool hall, but not on my friend's table. I would miscue quite regularly on his table. I followed the suggestion from the forum, and took my own Master chalk...

Also, his table is not in a damp location, that i can tell.

Thanks for everyone who responded. I will try my own chalk, as well as a few of my own balls, and take a few minutes before we play to try to identify the issue.

I can normally draw the cue ball reasonably well (at least by my standards), but on my friend's table, I miscue much more often. We both have 8 ft. tables, the same kind of felt cloth (i.e. not the simonis type), but his cloth is newer, and his pool balls have much less wear on them than mine...

I think this is a pretty good book: Byrne's Complete Book of Pool Shots: 350 Moves Every Player Should Know Byrne has a number of fairly good books. Another good one: The Illustrated Principles of Pool and Billiards Paperback by David G. Alciatore

theUBC, Don't quote me on this, but your PDF that you have posted says the diameter of cue balls is 5.72 mm. I think you mean 'cm', not 'mm'. big difference.

I am wondering what is wrong with your phenolic tip (other than it is a phenolic tip). Mine doesn't hold chalk very well either, I kind of figured that was just a function of phenolic, since it is so hard. I don't think it will ever hold chalk like a leather tip.

I also have an 8' table that I practice on at home with relatively big pockets. Would like a 9' at home, but it's a bit tight for space, plus, whenever any family or friends who don't play so much would come to play, they would never make a ball on the 9' table. :smile: At any rate, when I go...
