Are Pool League Members Allowed to Gamble Outside of League Play?

Discretionary. Range of penalties from warning to DQ. The rule lists factors they consider. I have no idea how often it comes up in their events. I haven’t had opponents ask me to gamble, but I haven’t played tons of their events. I doubt I’d call them on it; it would take a lot for me to run to...

Are Pool League Members Allowed to Gamble Outside of League Play?

BCA does say it is unsportsmanlike conduct to offer to gamble with opponents or spectators during your match. Rule 1-45. But that is not exactly a broad ban on gambling.

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

When I saw the top 200 list I put all of those players as world class. To me if you are top 200 worldwide in almost anything you should be considered world class. The problem is that in pool world class does not necessarily mean you can make a good living. That is a different way of saying what...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

Pool has never been a sport that offered many people a true career. Look at that top 200 list from the other day. If you were the 192nd best doctor, lawyer, electrician, carpenter, accountant whatever in the world you would have a great career. Good luck doing it in pool. The very few who can...

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

That’s the one I got. I like it. I see what skor is saying on the skinny points. But for whatever reason it doesn’t seem that noticeable in person. That kind of thing can bother me, but on this cue it doesn’t.

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

I see what you are saying but I think the veneered ones are sharp. The main point can look a little rounded but they avoid the look you get with the rounded veneer ones you see on some cnc points. The construction of the cue is not old school splice, which we can argue about. But building them...

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

Sorry, that is wrong. Some do. They aren’t the rounded points you see on some others like some McDermott or Schon

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

Might be my next cue I don’t need. I really like the feel of Joss. Every one I hit with I liked. Never had one. So I finally got one. Glad I did.

4-6 point cues with colored veneers and linen wraps are my favorite

I might have picked up a Joss cue fitting that description from PoolDawg. For less than 800. But then we’d have the same cue. 😉 Many of the Joss cues don’t fit that description. And the points are skinnier than the old full splice. But mine is 4 sharp points, veneers, linen wrap, notched...

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

This seems about right. Look at the Fargo lists for players in that 730-770 range. Many strong players, just look at the top 100 USA list. I would say these players are all better than the typical local scratch golfer. Different games etc…. Maybe 600 2-4 hcp, 650 scratch, 700 +2? Not sure

Modern snooker just celebrated a Birth Day back in 1875 in India by a bored British Officer !

Good article. But I think it will prompt me to learn a bit more about the history of cue sports in the USA which is much richer than the history of the single discipline of snooker. Interestingly it prompted me to look up Neville Chamberlain who is not the Prime Minister one. Late in his...

Reasonably priced, fairly cheap, vintage cues with the most amazing hitting shaft wood?

No, it’s a D-1 i think. Plain cue. Cool looking nylon wrap that is in great shape. Just the entry level player from then. I didn’t play with the McDermotts then. Kind of wish I did. I am coming around to realizing I think I prefer plain maple shafts in the 13mm range. The shafts that were...

I recently picked up a D Series McDermott. Hits great.

McDermott cues in The Color Of Money

Do it. I don’t think you’ll regret it. I have only sent one cue in to them on the lifetime warranty deal and the service was great. The refinish in this thread looks great. Everything about the service from Mc Dermott I have heard of has been positive. I could see having occasion to go to...

McDermott cues in The Color Of Money

I do have to say looking at the C Series and the posts here… Rusty and Hawaiian Eye may have the two best ones from that series.
