    Starting Local Pool Leagues

I think lack of interest is a bigger factor than fear. I personally have no interest in this. There are established pool leagues I play in. I can play people outside of leagues. I’ve played in an in- house schedule your own league that was going to end up as a ladder type deal. It died...

    Billy Thorpe

Yeah, I remember playing on Simonis on GCs in the ‘80’s and don’t remember them being as fast as Diamonds. I did play on one GC this millennium that was the bounciest table I have experienced. That was shortly before Hank’s at 38th and Sheridan in Denver closed. I don’t remember a table in that...

    Does a Good Triangle/Rack Make a Difference.

I like the Diamond racks but I have a pet peeve. There is a Diamond on the front of the rack for a reason. Seems like most people don’t notice the center mark on the back of the rack. I think I noticed one without the mark, but most have it. If the table has the line from the spot to the rail...

    U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

Nope. They cut to a football game and didn’t finish the announcement about the conclusion. They did have something on the screen before.

    What is a cue’s “hit”?

A PS. Anybody remember the Lee Trevino tire ad? He held up a golf ball and said “You can’t see the rubber in the golf ball but you can feel it when you drive…”.

    What is a cue’s “hit”?

They just feel different. I like cues so have too many. You don’t have to be world class to feel a difference. Like the old test we talk about. It wasn’t scientific but they had pros hit with different cues in a blind test with covered joints. The usual point made is pros guessed wrong on the...

    Old Viking Cues.

That case is outrageous. I love it. Someone needs to reissue that one.

    My competition sports/Adam tribute cues

I always liked those but never bought one. Probably should have. I think I called and talked to the guy Cornerman mentioned once. When I started playing several guys at the pool hall I went to had Adam cues and a couple had the fancy ones. Always liked the look.

    U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

Please don’t insult Triangle by calling it Euro anything. Triangle is made at the home of chalk in Chicago along with Master. Some ( including me) prefer it although it is close. I like the slightly different texture and the label stands out from the Master if you want your chalk to stand out...

Where do I hit the Q ball to make this down to the bottom left hand corner

No, it isn’t. Unless you are playing bad rules like UPL. Or more commonly with players ( and as we’ve seen recently, referees) who don’t know the rules. Most rule sets allow this. There have been some recent threads on this.

Texas One Shot - the Game!

Given the last sentence, why don’t you get on your billiard table and learn the series games. I wish I had learned the free game and one cushion. Those games may not be popular but they’ve lasted. Your game won’t ever get going enough to say it stood the test of time. Sorry.

Is Your Cue Right For You? Does Professional Instruction Pay Off? How Would You Know?

One thing that might be quantifiable is comparing the balance point to the swing path. Maybe with the stroke analyzers you could discern if a forward weighted cue or a rear weighted one gave you a straighter stroke. Not sure.

Is Your Cue Right For You? Does Professional Instruction Pay Off? How Would You Know?

The golf club fitting is more important and it is more important for your son at his swing speed etc…. The lie of the golf club and the shaft characteristics will affect the ball flight more than the cue characteristics are going to affect the cueball path. The swing path and angle are going to...
