my first wooden shaft (J.Parker) has suffered many dents...altho it is a very low budget cue. I've talked with a older friend in the pool house the other day, his cue is almost 20years old and not a single dent aswel.

in my opinion, its better to get the fundamentals and the feel from a wooden shaft before switching to CF

I think that the CF has its own advantages specialy because of the durability, it doesnt get run down as wood does. Specialy when it comes to dents. Altho its harder to progress with a CF shaft at a average player level.
