1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

Strawberry and Grady were not top flight ball strikers(by pro standards). IMO opinion a world class 9 ball player from any era would adjust. Kim Davenport and Luther Lassiter would do fine.i have a friend who was a strong short stop in the 80s and 90s and he was still playing great pool 8...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

if 4 and 1/8th inch pockets were a thing back then I’m sure players like Hall, Strickland, Varner, Reyes, Bustamante would have adjusted and played great. I’ve seen Earl play on a very tight 10 ft table about 12 years ago and he played fantastic pool. They played on what they were given.

    Mid America vs Cuesmith lathe

First off I respect both companies and I’m sure they are both great. Just wondering if there are any significant differences or advantages and also if the tools are interchangeable. Like the automatic tip shaper on the cuesmith looks awesome. Can that be mounted on the MidAmerica ?? If I did go...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

Of course they do, but I don’t think they’re gonna play any better on the 10 foot than they do on a 9 foot. I don’t think it’s gonna be any easier. Different in certain aspects

Maybe one year they’ll do a straight pool tournament on the Bigfoots at DCC. Then we can all see how hard it is or isn’t for someone to put up a 150 ball run.

Aloysius Yapp Claims Long-Awaited US Open Crown | 2025 LiveSB.io US Open Pool Championship

I like to see the pros miss and feel the pressure because it makes me feel better about when I miss 🤣

    US Open 08/18-23

I agree with you if you look at it, the cue never makes contact with the ball. I know 20 years from now nobody will give a shit. Yapp is the 2025 US open champion the end.

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

Pros were playing on 10 foot tables with 4.5 inch pockets before most of us were ever born. Steve Mizerak says in his book that the greatest thing he ever heard of Mosconi doing was running over 300 on a 10 foot table with 4.5 inch pockets.

    US Open 08/18-23

Yapp wins but he got help from Gorst mistakes and the pressure of the US Open. Thats 10-5 lead was too much to overcome. Great tournament from both players tho.

Gorst missed but it was a very difficult cut elevated with side spin. Very tough.
