    azbilliards.com refusing connection

Sounds good. As for servers, I used to have a shared hosting account. I had eight web sites, but the machine (dual 700mhz, 1 gig RAM, IDE disks) I was on probably had 100 sites total. There wasn't much reserve capacity, and the performance wasn't great. I entered a "co-op" deal with a few...

AZ, have you ever considered changing hosts? I'd think a good 1U server could really speed up this site.

Hope this doesn't come across as mean-spirited, but since you asked... I'm no fan of Flash sites. I could go into a lot of detail about why, but there's already a lot of writings critical of Flash: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20001029.html http://www.dack.com/web/flash_evil.html...

    Lori jon jones...

She's the only celebrity I've ever asked for an autograph. When she made Esquire magazine's "50 Women We Love" I mailed my copy to her. She signed it and wrote a very nice letter as well.

    Help to identify this cue

Durn...lots of makers have done cues like that. The pin and the plastic (has the look of layered cheesecloth) aren't all that common, though. I'm pretty sure it's not an Ernie (or a southwest).

    The Color Of Money

Actually, The Hustler movie is amazingly faithful to the book, by Hollywood standards. A fair number of scemes are verbatim from the book.

    Longest Game of 9-ball You've Ever Seen/Played

It was 8 ball, but last night I played a very lengthy game. The woman I was playing put an awfully good safety on me with just a ball each (plus the 8) on the table. The only possibility was high-risk kick shot, so I instead did an intentional foul by shooting the 8 to freeze it behind my ball...

    Help on cue identification

Yup. I'm basing my dating on the appearance of the nylon wrap, which I'm sure is original. I used to see a few of those in a case made for them. The case looked more like a chessboard case because of the multiple pieces.

    Help on cue identification

That's an inexpensive cue made by essentially anonymous companies in Asia in great quantities. No telling who made it. I doubt it was made earlier than the mid-1980's, or later than 1990. The value I'd say is less than $50.

    leagues or tournaments?

Heh...geek myself. I've met Peter St. Andre (exec dir Jabber Software Foundation) a few times. His license plate is "JABBER" :) I have my personal sites at Dreamhost. As far as I can tell, they are the only good-sized hosting companies that offer Jabber.

BoBB, on a totally unrelated matter, how did you come about having Jabber IM?

    leagues or tournaments?

I think in leagues things are more fun and sociable. In tournaments, you're the competition for most people there. There's not a lot of people rooting for you, your opponent isn't going to chat about strategy, offer you tips, give constructive criticism, etc. Tourney play, though, does make...
