I should've clarified that it'll increase the action on the cue ball. I don't think that person was saying the carbon shaft magically spins more than a wood one. I think they're noticing more revolutions of the ball due to the increased action.

Does it have a pilot? I bought a Jacoby Black 5/16-14 for my Mezz and believe it did not. Most United shafts have a very secure "compression lock" fit and the Jacoby definitely had a less secure feeling and it even made the hit and feedback seem more muted to me.
