Who's the Most Promising Young American Player

A name that comes to mind is Chris Futrelle(sp?) I've only seen him once (at this years U.S. Open) but considering the pressure of the tournament and the fact that he is only fourteen years old and his opponent was the defending Open champion,I thought he played well.

    That "Next" Level

I'm just a decent player but I'll try to give you some advice. If you think there might be a problem with your fundamentals I would see a good instructor. When you say that sometimes you can run racks but other times you basically play like a beginner that does seem a little extreme. Running...

    Pressure Practicing

For the last several days I've been working on improving this area when I'm practicing on my table at home. I've just been trying keep a positive mindset at the table no matter what situation comes up. I have definately noticed an improvement in my consistency especially when it comes to...

    HUGE Slump?

Without knowing your level of consistency as far as ball pocketing it is hard to say if the slump is mainly caused from an inconsistent stroke or a lack of confidence in your ability. If I thought my slump was caused by a flaw in stroke mechanics I would definately see an instructor and try to...

Nose above cue or dominant eye when aiming?

This type of stance, along with an open bridge on the majority of shots has really worked well for me. At least for me it has improved my shot-making accuracy and cue-ball control a great deal.

    Anyone ever notice this?

I watched the Allison Fisher/Jeanette Lee match and noticed the same thing. The one-ball moved as the rack was lifted.

    Race to 7?

Just to add my two cents to this thread, I really don't how much improvement we are going to see in the way that pool is presented on television. I agree that a short race to seven is ludicrous, and not a true test of skill. Not to continue to beat a dead horse (espn's coverage of pool) but...

    US Open discussion

It was good to see Bazarus win his first match. I believe his name is Voytek Partica. Hopefully John (Rude Dog) will win his match also. Looking forward to tonight's match between John Schmidt and Larry Nevel.

    Life is great!

Hang in there and try to remain positive, even though it's not always easy. Best of luck to you at the Open. :)

    Tall pro players

John Horsfall is another tall player. He looks to be at least 6'3". Gets very low over the cue also. Tony Drago is probably around this height. Tony comes from a snooker backgound and I think John does too. Some more tall players are Mike Davis, Mike Massey, and Dennis Hatch.

Best Beginner Cue - Under $200

This is just my opinion, but I purchased a Viking vm19 about two years ago and have found it to be a great playing cue. Can't say I've had any complaints about it other than the Le Pro tip which I had replaced with a Triangle.
