Wood can be bent with pressure and heat. So a butt can be straightened the same way. I have done it and have show a few other cuemakers how to do it. And yes they do stay straight over time.
Pick up some paint remover and soak the parts in. Will not hurt they at all. Have done this in the past to clean spray guns covered in paint and plugged up.
I would stay away from CA finish.
A lot of automotive paint shops can put catalised clear coat in a rattle can with a nice nozzle on them. It will last for a few day to a week before it sets up in the can. Very economical way to get a quality coating. But still need to use proper protection...

Yes the front is tapered before I cut point slots
I use the dia at the forearm base as a reference.
1.150 cut point slots
1.125 A joint ring and bridge work if needed
1.100 install handle
1.082 inlay work
1.072 second round of inlay work if needed
1.062 finish size
Did you indicate the joint before you put the pin in ?
Did you indicate the joint when you put back in the lathe to check ?
If its run out from the chuck use a lead hammer and tap the high jaw tell you get no run out. Than check the pin or install the pin.
