I've known Mark it seems like forever. I always helped him whenever he asked. When he was around we'd always go out to eat. We always kept in touch. What can I say Mark was part of my life about 50 years I'm just glad he was part of it. I pray for his family and many friends.
PAUL SILVA WAS THE MANAGER OF PALACE BILLIARDS 0N MARKET ST. IN SAN FRANCISCO. HE COULDN'T DRAW HIS BALL I HAD BEEN TOLD. I ASKED PAUL ABOUT HIS NOT BEING ABLE TO DRAW HIS BALL AND THEN TRIED TO SHOW ME HE COULD BUT HE COULDN'T AND HE'D KEEP MISS CUEING BUT HE WAS ALSO THE BEST 9 BALL PLAYER...
Pool rooms years ago were bookie joints. Pool was just a front. Now with off track betting, casinos who wants to gamble playing pool anymore? At least at the casino if you win there's no one crying that you quit winners getting mad at you. No one shooting one barrel at you or cracking you in the...
Kim Davenport was a average player and learned from Hal Mix and his game went all crazy. Hal Mix when he lived in San Jose taught in his garage there. Hal was going around the Bay area looking for information and he got Joe Bachelor to come to his place and stay on the weekends and Joe was one...

I seen Denny Searcy play at the Palace billiards in San Francisco in 1969. He had a powerful stroke. I've never seen anything like it. Jimmy Russo was his backer back then. There was a payball game aways going on. One time Denny ran four racks on that 6X12 snooker table. I never saw Denny loose...
Joe Smiley
Joe would have to be at least 70 by now. He was in San Francisco in the late 60s and early 70s Hustling pool. Very impressive player. Last I heard he was working as dealer in Las Vegas.
I knew Joe when he was a house player at Palace Billiards on Market Street in San Francisco in the 1970s. I played straight pool with him there many times. He made the game look easy. He would rack the balls without the rack with his hands. That alone was something to see. I'm from Rome, NY and...
