I've never seen a cue with a longer joint collar/piece, but could you make a longer ivory joint? Maybe sleeve it over a small maple piece you attach to bring it back to 29"? Or just have a longer ivory joint? Interesting project!
Pete Sr. could be curt and require specific details, but plenty of good artists/craftsman have far greater faults. He also handled hundreds of inquiries a month and developed an approach that ensured he could accurately price a cue and ensure customers were on the same page. I was initially put...
I was surprised too and disappointed initially, but the quality is amazing and you'll have the best custom cue experience from a legendary maker. It's worth doing if you plan to hang onto your cue for awhile.
I agree with this, but also agree that Tascs are amazing cues and they are very easy to work with, which is rare for a top tier builder. You're $5k cue is likely closer to $3.5k on the secondary market, if you choose to sell it. I had a "60 hoppe that played beautifully and would have ordered a...
I just tried one of Vince's shafts too and it was excellent! The first solid hitting carbonish shaft I've come across. The shaft had very low deflection and was beautiful. I second Ajay''s recommendation to try out one of Vince's shafts.
I have what I believe is his largest hickory Burl and blackwood cue with oosik joint and buttcap. Price is $5k shipped to pry it from my hands. If the price is acceptable, send me a PM with your cell and I'll send you pics.
Thanks,

His last Snakewood cue plays great, that's for sure! I sometimes wonder how many battles he won and what money he earned with it. Maybe a cue like this is fancier than what a typical hustler would use, but surely by the time a hustler earns a well enough reputation, there's little need to fly...
All I've had some fun tinkering with Mike Bender over the past couple of years. Mike took on several projects for me: 1. authenticating a DPK I bought on here from Troy years ago, 2. building a cue David started but never finished when Omega closed, and 3. refinishing one of his cues, which is a...
I have a Palmer J. I couldn't tell you which catalog it might be, but I always loved the look of this cue. Let me know if you're interested and I can send pics and specs.
