I'd also be concerned about the uv rays from the window, even indirect ones. Not only do uv rays damage cloth and rubber, but they fade the color from the wood on the side towards the window. A good uv film on the window may even help protect it from breaking.

I've been using wax for 35 years and never had a problem, our installers have used it on thousands of tables without fail. The main problem is modern tables with no slate dowels and the joint moves. Liquid dowels will end that problem. As far as bondo goes, I've seen dozens of sets of slate...

Yeah, it's a Passow, I had the same model in a 12 snooker, never could find a model name & it took a decade to sell it!
