    I tried that first, but got even more confused. The wood gluing surface measures 1-9/32, but my cushions are narrower. Doing some reading, it seems like the important part is that the profile follows the angle of the top of the subrail to get the nose height right but the bottom doesn't matter...

    If you look pictures, you'll see they are indeed detached from the rail and include the measurement you're questioning. I left a hair off a gap in my measurement to prevent the very thing you're warning against - compression from the calipers.

    I saw that as well, but didn't know if that's the only profile designated by the Mark 1 name, or if that was the case 30 or so years ago.

    I'm replacing cushions on my 9' table and a little puzzled at which replacement profile is correct. What I know about the table is that it was custom built in Canada. I bought it 22 years ago from a guy in Iowa who was moving back to Canada and didn't want to take it with him. I don't know how...
