Aside from popping a tip off. What is wrong with breaking with your playing cue? The old timers did it, and didn't seem to have a problem, what makes this age different?

I've been learning to play with my offhand. I have not had a problem fixing my up and down wobble when stroking but side to side is pretty Wild especially when hitting lag speed and harder. I've been doing the bottle exercise and practicing but no fix yet. Any suggestions?
