    Bulletproof carbon playing shaft?

July 24, 2025: After much thought and research, I purchased a Bulletproof carbon fiber cue shaft ( 11.8mm, 5/16x14, soft Recoil tip). Turns out this is one of the few items I've purchased in a long time that's actually way better than I expected. My current playing cue is (make that was) a...

Digicue Blue. Guys are Afraid to Know?

First, I don't spend a lot of time on social media. This is my opinion. I don't plan to spend a lot of time discussing or defending it. I hope it provides useful thought. If it isn't for you, just ignore it. OK, Folks. The following is my opinion based on my experience with the Digicue Blue. I...

    8-foot Dufferin Cue?

David, Reread your post. You're correct, it could also be a long cue just for use with a long bridge.

    8-foot Dufferin Cue?

Thanks, I didn't think of that use. Makes complete sense and explains why no splices, wraps, end cap, etc. An eight foot bridge on a 12 foot snooker table would definitely come in handy. Be interesting to see if anyone has other ideas.

    8-foot Dufferin Cue?

A fellow player obtained this "cue" as part of group of used cues. It consists of two 4-foot sections. He has two questions. 1. What the heck is it? 2. Does it have any value? The butt section (and the shaft) appear to be just plain wood. The butt has no splices, wraps, end cap, etc. The only...

    Wrong Ball

Not a lot to say. It happened and it shouldn't have. My sympathies go out to all involved. There are no winners in this discussion. Both players are subject to multiple interpretations on "what should have happened." To me the bottom line is the ball color change many years ago to make the...

Do you perfer wood to wood joint or SS and why

Cute. At the risk of being politically incorrect.. I used to use Wheaties but I saw what it did to Bruce Jenner

Do you perfer wood to wood joint or SS and why

In response to the posts, "wood to wood vs stainless steel," here's an old time trick to soften the blow with metal joints. It also cuts down on wear at the joint interface on wood to wood joints as described by ShootingArts. I recently bit the bullet and ordered a carbon fiber cue shaft. It...

    Bank pool... Systems or Rote?

Quick disclosure. I make no claim to being an expert. For one rail banks I use a system learned from Jimmy Reid which is a "basic divide by two" calculation. Tor Lowery has some videos out that shows this system and more. You can find free videos by both Jimmy Reid and Tor Lowery on YouTube...

    14.1 high runs... be honest

OK, you're going way back in the memory banks here. Best run ever was somewhere in the 45-50 ball range. That would have been in 1961 or 1962 when I was playing Straight Pool (14.1 to you youngsters) often. I know I finished out a couple of balls in one rack, ran the next three, made the opening...

    United Billiard League

I think there is a venue in the Chicago area. Seems I saw one listed on the UBL web page under the venues tab. Not sure where it is, I haven't been in that area since I lived in one of the 'burbs in the late 1980's. Re: Use up their BIH with safeties. Doesn't work as well as you might think...

    United Billiard League

[/B][/COLOR] Pertaining to #5. There have been more that a few times that I've closed down the pool hall staying after league helping players that have asked for free pool advice/lessons. Problem is...over the years I fell like there should be a lot more lower skill level players asking for...

    United Billiard League

I first posted this in a different forum in August but am reposting here since this thread seems to be getting more action. This post has a couple of minor updates from the original. Southern Fried OK, I read all the UBL posts on this forum and I'm going to do something I seldom do. Post on...

    UBL: Why So Little Discussion?

I posted this on another forum about a week ago. I'm reposting it here since this discussion seems to be more active on the subject. I'll add a comment on slow play. I watched an 8-ball finals match on you tube where the pros were playing for about a $2500 difference in first and second. Super...

    United Billiard Leagues

OK, I read all the UBL posts on this forum and I'm going to do something I seldom do. Post on AZBilliards. Not that I have anything against the site. I just research more than I post. I post about once a year as I recall. Feel free to respond or comment whether you agree or not. Just don't look...
