Butt tapering - issue cutting ivorine 4 joint collar and metal rings

It has happened. But far more commonly the tooth breaks, so less than a full tip flying at you. Trusting you at least always wear eye protection for any sort of chip? And keep important body parts well below the line of radial fire? A friend once told me that another friend's dad lost an eye to...

Butt tapering - issue cutting ivorine 4 joint collar and metal rings

If you were really cutting without TS support on a long extension, that would seem to be a large part of the issue? If you had adequate support and were cutting metal, plastic, and wood all in the same pass with the same cutter, it is possible that the carbide chipped or dulled on the metal...

What band saw for an aspiring cue maker?

It's nice to have a table larger than a 14" saw for that. Plus, 16" seems to be a baseline where manufacturers decide the purchaser is a serious user, and make them a little heavier and a little "nicer" in terms of ease of use, alignments, etc. If you can get one of the Euro saws in 20" or...

    Anniversary values

That's either nice rosewood veneer with some tasteful :) contrast; or walnut same spec. Not gonna bet from this distance....the rails look walnut in the photos, and the skirts look like...."stained quality hardwood"..... "Contrast" e.g. sapwood, used to bother me in veneers. But it has grown...

Let’s see some ebony/ebony wrapless cues

    I've posted this one before.

    Anniversary values

Geoff - maybe you have access to more pix than above, but one of my first thoughts was "wow - the veneer on the legs/(pedestals) looks really great and not delaminating!" Even the sheet metal parts are not as beat up as some. Not questioning value estimate - i have absolutely no idea. But the...

    Old Aramith balls

Thanks, guys - all this time on AZ and i had not noted there was a section partially dedicated for ball history! I reasked the Q up there. Sorry for the redundancy. smt

    era/quality level for these Aramiths?

Can anyone ID approximate age and Aramith quality level for these base on packaging visuals? Does the cue ball look like it belongs to the set? TIA. smt

    Old Aramith balls

(recognizing that "old" is in context, Aramith balls have only been around since the 60's. :) ) Can anyone tell from the box what quality level and age these are? Thanks! smt
