Best All-Around Production Cue for ~$1000 (Value, Playability, Durability, Support)?

I agree about the narrow points (unless they are "bridged") and gaps between them. Also not a fan of odd umbers of points. For cues under $1,000, I agree with earlier posts that there are SPs that play great. I have a Frey SP that plays great and was my regular playing cue for several years.

    Custom Cue with Ivory

He hasn't used it for quite a while (I think since the mid 2010s)

Questions on a Tim Scruggs SP please. ( Age and value?)

I have a Scruggs SP exactly like outrider1's. I bought if from Tim in 1999 for $160. I also have a Frey SP. Both play great.

    George Breedlove

I don't remember where or exactly when the tournament was, but 1994 at First Break sounds about right. I miss the McDermott Tour tournaments. For a $50 entry fee, you had the opportunity to play really good players (and even some pros--Earl Strickland played in the Commonwealth Cup in Richmond...

    Sports Palace?

Unfortunately, the Sport Palace (not Sports Palace) is closed. Buffalo, who was one of the co-owners, runs Buffalos in NOLA.

    Buddy Hall - RIP

I heard that was at the Sport Palace in New Orleans.

EYE PATTERN “Best Practices” … Cue Ball or Object Ball Focus Last?

The examples of distance visions that Dr. Dave gives in the video (around 7:10) are: basketball, bowling, baseball pitching, horseshoes, and darts. I would argue that all of these examples are fundamentally different from pool. In these sports you are moving the ball, horseshoe or dart with your...

    Tim Scruggs Sneaky

Bob Frey made a lot (most?) of Tim's SPs. I have one of each, and both play great.

What do you guys think of this estimate?

I was surprised too. When I bought the table in 1997, it was about $500 to recover the table with Simonis.

What case makers make cases with soft dividers and not plastic tubes?

I spent a long time looking for a hard case without tubes to replace my aging 2x4 It’s George case. I bought a 2x4 GTF case, but I use it only for storage because the padding is so thick it is more like a 2x2 case. I ended up getting a Holly Spectrum 3x5 case from Seybert’s. The case is fake...

What do you guys think of this estimate?

The materials costs don't vary by location, but the labor costs do.

What do you guys think of this estimate?

I agree with others that the prices seem to be too high. The price for recovering my gold crown 3 with simonis 860 HR cloth was $575. I also replaced the rails and have the pockets cut down to 8 and 3/8, which brought the total up to $900. By the way I live in the Washington DC area.

    APA 9ball WTF

If you're playing for fun, you can play 6-ball after your 9-ball game.

Best Pool Player you saw alive, regardless.

At various times over the last 30 years I have seen Buddy Hall, Earl Strickland, Nick Varner, Efren Reyes Francisco Bustamante, Mike Sigel, Jose Parica, and many others playing 9-ball. More recently I saw Filler, Gorst, Van Boening, Chang, and some others when I attended the 2023 International...

One foot rule in one pocket?

This isn't a new thing. It was pretty common to see people climb on the tables at the Sport Palace (Buffalo was a co-owner) in 1990-91. Occasionally, you would see a footprint on the cloth.
