    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

Hey I just wanted to say, I really appreciate all your input!

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

To be honest I'm not sure how much I care about originality.. The cue is very cool but it's not (yet?? haha) particularly valuable. Who would I go to for modifying the pin? A machine shop?

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

By "beyond the insert" are you saying the insert would have a hole in the end? As far as I can see, the insert is closed inside (all brass), and in fact that might make it too shallow to add threads... In any case, good tip about ACE haha.

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

Haha no, actually that's a really good clue, appreciate it. I went and measured the pin and tried measuring the length of the threaded portion inside the shafts' inserts and it does seem like the pin could be juuuust long enough for it to be an issue. Also, compared to other 5/16x18 pins I have...

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

Sorry, do you mean you suspect the Adam pin is longer than the tapped threads in the Valhalla (and other) shaft?

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

Oh yeah I get that, but the question is really what is different about that Adam screw that is 5/16x18 but new shafts screw too tightly to it? The Valhalla was an example but I have other modern 5/16x18 shafts and they all fit the same way. Are the threads on vintage screws known to be cut...

    When is a 5/16x18 not a 5/16x18? (Vintage-y cue question)

Hi folks. I recently bought an Adam "Jim Rempe" cue, which I'm to understand is from the early 80s. It's got a 5/16x18 piloted joint pin, and its shaft screws easily onto my Valhalla cue that has a 5/16x18 pin, other than the fact that the Valhalla is not piloted. However, the Valhalla's shaft...

New Room in San Francisco's Mission district called 'The Hall'

Ooh, here's hoping The Hall posts some of the mic'd-up matches to YT. I enjoyed watching the ones they posted of the previous event even though I felt guilty seeing all the locals get destroyed haha

Fred J Velten from Marin, California?

Haha that’s pretty tweaked hahaha. It’s kind of a shame Fred didn’t leave a bigger pool cue legacy, he was such a cool gentleman. Well I really appreciate you asking Lee. I gotta get up there again soon, if for nothing else than the waaay cheaper daytime table rates compared to SF!

Fred J Velten from Marin, California?

Yeah I’d be curious to see if they remember anything. It might be that Fred had his career-ending stroke before he could pump out a lot of cues, I dunno. Anyway, I visited Buffalo first time a few weeks ago, really great place.

Fred J Velten from Marin, California?

Based on the hour or so I spent with the man over 30 years ago, I think I’d agree! I’m hoping someone here might’ve actually gotten a cue from him, too…

Fred J Velten from Marin, California?

Hey gang, when I was a fresh grad and also getting into pool a bit more waaay back in the mid 90’s, I happened almost randomly (because there was no Google Maps or AI back then) on the shop of a local cuemaker in Marin County, California by the name of Fred J Velten. He was a kindly older gent...
