I'm still working it out! But I know it's a bad idea, but it gives me something to do with my spare time. So far 6063 Aluminum is working out in my best intrests: .097 lbs / in*3 = density Still working on conversions for weight, but it's looking good

Well I've done some more home work on it and have come up with this. Aluminum may be too heavy, so that's where I got to thinking about different alloys. By weight 6063 Aluminum alloy is the lightest density, and 6061/2024 weigh a fraction more. So for a solid bar of 6061 Aluminum T651 3"x30"...

I'll have one made up by tomorrow.

I'm already on the hunt, if I can work up something and get a prototype made I'll let you be the first to try it (other than me :grin:).

Thats what I'm scared of. If done properly I can see the thick part being hollow tapering down to a point then a solid part being the thinest part of the shaft. A nice hard poly insert to hold the female end of the joint. It would be an experiment with ID/OD of the hollow part.

I know it's going to be heavy, but I would like to not sacrafice the integrity of it for weight saving. I have no clue what the actual weight would be.

Well that's where on aluminum, you could get away with boring out the inside of the shaft and still be a more solid of a shaft, yet weigh as much. I don't think this guy really cares on the play part cause it will be a shaft for breaking only. Now that I think of it I will have to find a cue...

Well for some weight saving you could mill out a cone shape mid way through the shaft, so you have a light weight yet still heavier, but structually sound shaft.

Don't be too hash on me but you're looking for a very solid yet light weight shaft for breaking only right? T6051 Aluminum in a 2" solid bar stock is $120. Machine it to your specs, then you have a shaft with no play no flex, yet light weight. Get it either anodized or powder coated black...

I ended up getting one on ebay for $20, I know ebay for one and $20 for two, we will see what happens. But as far as Joe T's products, I'll be making a purchase before long!
