Great comments, thanks for the input. Yes you're correct that in snooker/UK cues the pin tends to be on the shaft, but not as a rule as such.
I prefer 17 to 18oz weight. I currently play with a one piece 17oz Dave Coutts cue. It's stunning and plays like a dream. I'm somewhat of a collector so...
I've done some calculations and I think at the joint the diameter will be 19.6 to 19.7mm. Not sure how much thinner that is to a standard butt? Do you think a 3/8x11 pin would work?
Ferrule I was going with stainless steel. As you say, traditional ferrule isn't possible and brass just looks too...
Yeah, Paul is top class and I've had 5 or 6 cues from him over the years. I've emailed him and he said it's possible. Just waiting for him to get back to me with more details.
I actually did this. I had PFD make me a shaft to fit my existing PFD pool cue. It played ok but not great as after all, it was an unusual taper going from standard joint diameter down to 9mm. Butt was heavy and oversize so wasn't really an ideal solution, but something I'm glad I tried. Now I...
Picture a classic Tascarella cue with a leather wrap. That's what I want. Centre joint, forearm with 4 points with flame veneers. Leather wrap then buttsleeve, maybe with a hoppe ring.
White ferrule (short like a predator ferrule). Maple shaft, not fussed if it's solid maple or laminated as the...
Thanks for the input. Stuart Bingham's cue is actually still a snooker cue. Same construction as a standard cue, i.e. ebony splices into an ash shaft. However it has inlays similar to the style of a US cue.
I'm looking for a cue to be constructed like a US cue but just with snooker cue...
No, that already exists. Quite a few snooker cueakers such as Parris already make cues to US cue specs. This started when snooker players such as Steve Davis and Jimmy white turned to 9 ball pool.
Thanks for the comment. Looking at them, they seem to make both snooker and US pool cues, but you have to choose one or the other. Essentially I want a US pool cue but made to snooker specifications.
I'm UK based and used to have many US cues, however as my local club removed the US tables I transitioned to UK pool a few years ago. I have a nice collection of snooker / UK pool spec cues, but I very much miss the design of the US cues.
Does anyone know a cuemaker that would be happy to...
